What Qualifies Mel Kiper as an Analyst? let's look at him...

He never played college or Pro football, never coached, Went to Essex Community college, and majored in What? Journalism? This makes him a football expert? This makes him smarter than people who have played and coached the game for years? C'mon, wake up and smell the ESecPN coffee people. He's a scam, a fake, a nobody, a Know-nothing, runs his mouth loser, who NEVER PLAYED! My nephew is more qualified to discuss football, he at least has played HS ball!

He started doing draft analysis as a teenager in the late 70s and was impressive enough to get hired by ESPN in 1984. He's been doing this stuff for over 35 years. I don't agree with him all the time but he is entertaining.

Why do you have to play football to know football? Keith Jackson and Larry Munson are the two best college football broadcasters in history and don't know if either ever played.

Played or you wouldn't have to ask that question. Football is a game that ther are so many intangibles and things that only through going through it do you get a full understanding of it. I can read a manual about flying a plane, but I don't think that makes me an expert more so than a person who's spent their life flying and training as a pilot! Kiper is NOT an American success story in anyway other than he's fool America into thinking he knows something. The guy is a fraud and a con artist. I played from six to 22, I have coached for over 20 years, and I can definitely say I am more of an expert on football than MEL Kiper!

the game watchin than playing. Every sport is like that. You can see and learn more from the bench than while you are on the field.

I just think it's silly to to dislike someone just because he makes a negative comment about a Clemson player. These guys are blunt and opinionated.

Mel is a hypster for sure and I'm sure there are many people who know way more than him but he has had more to do with the NFL draft becoming such a huge event than anyone.
