they lied to me.

Mar 26, 2021, 10:46 AM

they came a-solicitin' round the 'hood last spring, knockin on doors and what not (not sure how they got past the guard @ the gate)

I said "can you make my (######) yard look like that?" (pointing towards immediate neighbors pristine grass)

they says, "yes, we actually treat their grass, so we can definitely do that"

I take their info, and only commit to having a guy come out to give a quote

Then I see my neighbor, and I says "the Weed Man (men?) guys came by and I'm gonna set something up. Are you happy with them so far?"

He says "Who? We don't use them"

F'n lies, man

Us land barons (McLovin, me, FBCOOCH)... we have Yards.

YOu don't fertilize or water a yard. You just cut grass and hope for the best. It's survival of the fittest, only the STONGEST grasses will survive. USA!!! USA!!! USA!!!

The only worry in cutting grass around here is making sure you have a clear field of fire against invaders, and leave nothing in the yard that can be used as cover for an attacker. It also helps to have an elevated firing position with a clear 360 degree view of the property. This is how you worry over a yard, my friends.

what he uses to keep the weeds from taking over his gravel and mud

He went through this at some point last year

Mar 26, 2021, 9:32 AM

Posted how great his lawn care regimen was. Then everyone saw what his yard looked like when MauldinT® doxed him.

Please forgive me, @IneligibleUser

My yard was great until I had that

Mar 26, 2021, 10:59 AM

"issue" and dude brought in a bunch of hard fill clay. Hopefully the grass can push through it.

Either way I'm not going to care in a month

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I like your funny words magic man

I use the scotts one, but only because

Mar 26, 2021, 10:40 AM

I'm a man and I like to do all the work myself. If it ever breaks, I'm going to just carry the Scott's turf builder in my cargo pants pockets and spread it around with my hands.

BTW, I usually treat the yard right after winter before the first cut. Let it sit for 2 weeks. Then I cut the grass and treat again. Rinse and repeat in June when the grass is long and the granules have something to bond to. Then again in late August. My dandelion and weed garden looks somewhat passable as a lawn now.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What's wrong with the scott's one?

Mar 26, 2021, 10:44 AM

I've had one for I dunno maybe 15 or 20 years. Pretty simple to operate, not much that can go wrong.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Mine is old, but my biggest issue is the hollow wheels

Mar 26, 2021, 11:08 AM

will collect the fertilizer and weed eater and leave streaks in my lawn.

badge-ringofhonor-clemsonsteve02.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not weed eater, weed killer.

Mar 26, 2021, 11:09 AM

Wheels get wet, and it collects in them and then I have alternating baths of dark green followed by lighter green.

badge-ringofhonor-clemsonsteve02.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I realize your lot is a regular plantation by NOVA standards

Mar 26, 2021, 11:41 AM

but isn't it like a 1/2 acre? Just get one of these bad boys and be the hottest fertilizer spreader on the block.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpgringofhonor-obed.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I already am.

Mar 26, 2021, 12:23 PM

I shall not lower myself to CARRYING a spreader. It will be blinged out with large wheels that blow up, and it will be ON THE GROUND.

badge-ringofhonor-clemsonsteve02.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LOOK MAN, if we're being honest here,

Mar 26, 2021, 1:12 PM

you're already fertilizing your own lawn. We're just arguing over different degrees of low.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpgringofhonor-obed.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm going back to Pennington

Mar 26, 2021, 10:45 AM

Used them in the past but got lazy and just bought Scott's because it was all HD had at the time and I think this is the worst my yard has ever looked

me, about an hour ago

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I use a mix of things

Mar 26, 2021, 10:53 AM

I have a small yard, but Scott's generally does the trick. I like that some of their seeds have fungicide in the coating. My grass got a fungus last summer and with excessive rain, became a muddy mess. In September I over seeded with Scott's and Pennington, and use the Turf Builder. I did it again a few weeks ago and my small little area (500 sq. ft.) is much much greener. I still have some bald spots and such, but it's looking way better.

Re: Hay bae

Mar 26, 2021, 12:34 PM

lol, been here all along (since 2007), just don't venture into "the lunge" often (or post in general). 2021 seems like an ok time to change that.

there is another "francis marion tiger" round these parts but i was here first. he's has a much better posting style though.

i'm working on getting rid of my man tids.

i like hazy/new england ipas best. i lean towards beers with citra, el dorado, mosaic, and simcoe hops.
