My uncle, a coot alumnus, will always fire back at me one of the two:
1. Well, we still won 5 out of the last 6 2. Well, y'all still went 0-5 against us in the best five-year run in program history
Where are these numbers coming from? Have you ever in your entire life heard somebody only reference the past 6 years of a rivalry when discussing who holds bragging rights? It's akin to be saying "from 1997 to 2009" the coots only won twice against Clemson. It might be true, but it makes zero sense in the big picture.
Secondly, we won a national title. I know that's difficult to understand for a program that has never been close to one, but a losing season in 2010 and failing to win another national title would not constitute "the best run in program history".
It's all they have to look back on. No SEC conference championships, no national championships, no big bowl wins (BCS)...you should have known when the high five talk started they'd hang onto it like a life preserver.
