but silver lining, I guess the value of our boat is going up as it is sitting with a pretty full tank of gas right now Hasn't been due to gas prices specifically, but did opt on doing something else on a Saturday partially due to fuel cost

If buying new, they probably won't get any cheaper

Materials and labor costs are cray, and builders still have a couple of year back log. If buying used, yeah I'm seeing a lot more on the market lately. I'd be surprised if that didn't continue through the year.
We're semi kicking around the idea of selling ours while the market is hot, and jumping on something else in 6 months to a year. Financially it's probably the smart play, emotionally I'm not sure I could handle it. Definitely will be cutting back on marina lunches, and I'm back to hauling gas cans down to the dock. We're not running all over the lake like we usually do, nor will we be making any coastal boating trips in the foreseeable future.
Trying to talk my wife into selling her car and driving the ole 1988 Nissan so I can get a jet ski, but haven't made progress there yet.

What have I given up? Less eating out. Also given up hope that democrat voters will ever wake up.

Nothing. Got two Hybrids so LOL at folks …

Driving big trucks and SUVs for no reason. Affluent folks who drive gas guzzling vehicles just sound like whiners.
Concerned about contractors, service vehicles, truckers and others in transportation whose vehicles are connected to their jobs. Also concerned about folks with long commutes to work, school or other essential activities like medical or food shopping.
The folks with the most meaningful impacts from high fuel costs and inflation have lower incomes. Prolonged inflation and recession will expand that group.

I read your first sentence and was about to be pissed. Then you clarified. Yes, I depend on diesel for my business. It’s a huge strain on the bottom line. The “good news” is there have been some days when we can’t get product on time so we sit idle and “save on fuel”.

Back during my working career, I managed a $20 million dollar natural gas budget _ and had an unexpected 30% increase. Stress and a lot of tough decisions.
Good luck navigating the crisis.

Thanks. Yeah it’s not easy. We’re getting squeezed from many directions right now. Honestly it’s the toughest time I’ve ever had trying to be not only profitable but also on schedule.

Given up hope to retire soon, but I wasn't really seriously considering it - went from a 10% probability to zero.
