If we land Leonard

Jul 8, 2013, 7:54 PM

Since we landed Falcinelli, I think our chances are very good at landing Rick Leonard. I think he is a freaky sort of athlete with a TON of upside in front of him. He would be a huge addition to this class, and I can see him playing DE, DT, TE, or OT.

However, one of my favorite targets in this class is Andrew Williams. If Leonard commits to us, would we shut the door on him? I really hope not, because I think that the kid is a phenomenal DE, and will be a monster in college (and please don't take it as me saying I do not want Rick Leonard to commit, because I want him as well). Just curious on if we would continue to recruit him if Leonard jumps on board first.

To answer your question, no we would not.

The staff has all along wanted to sign 2 DE's and we have the inside track on both.

This is shaping up to be a MONSTER class, perhaps Clemson's best evah.....

Screw Calford.

Excellent. Landing both of those guys would be incredible. We really are looking at an outstanding class if we can keep these guys together. Thanks for the reply Ridgeland.

what about Featherston, who is also really good.

he seems to have a lot of potential (especially after gaining weight). i'd like to take all 3.

At 6'6", he'd have to put on a ton of weight for his frame***

Maybe, as we lead for Featherston and are probably leading for Williams, if we were to take Leonard we would probably only take one out of Featherston and Williams unless we oversign for one of them. IMO the coaching staff is probably cautious to take Leonard since we are in good shape for Featherston and Williams.

One guy was right. Williams appears to be a monster! Under no circumstances, do we want to lose this guy by taking another recruit. I understand that we cannot turn Leonard away if he wants to commit, but Williams is the man!

Agree with you assessment. I think Leonard and Williams would get the nod over Featherston at this point. Both of these are elite pass-rush DE's that can step in a play immediately.

Leonard's only played 1 year of football

He's an incredibly raw talent. Sam Montgomery out of Greenwood (and recently of LSU) was in the same situation.
