What a fantastic move that was very much needed.
Check mate libs....
You can't have it both ways. You can't want the US economy shut down due to coronavirus, but also want immigration to continue to flow.
I know Gretchen Whitmer must love this move considering she won't let people in her own state travel to second homes, etc.

Not sure why he didn’t do this sooner? Why would you need to immigrate in the middle of a pandemic and less opportunity to work?Of course we are back to the xenophobic and fear mongering tweets from some.

I hope you don't want any fruit and vegetables in your grocery store. Most are picked by immigrants with green cards. Study after study has found that US citizens won't do that hot, dirty, hard work for the pay offered. But, if you want to try doing the picking, I say "Great! Go for it." The farmers will yell! But they're used to getting shafted by TheRump.

We were already doing it anyway, so nothing changed. I support his decision though. Common sense imo.

The first case in the US was four months ago. It's already here. Testing, contact tracing, social distancing, etc. are all going to do more to limit exposure. As everyone has already pointed out, this is obvious pandering otherwise it's something that would have been implemented months ago.

There have been restrictions on letting in refugees and non-essential travel across the border for over a month. This EO is just for the xenophobic crowd to say to themselves "it's all better now that the immigrants won't be bringing da Corona to the US."

visas, why is that a bad thing given our current situation? We've got skyrocketing unemployment and most states are all but locked down, and you're trying to tell me this is about xenophobia? Do you actually believe that?

Take work visas for example, H1 visas are expensive for employers and designed to fill vacancies where the domestic workforce isn't sufficient. With high unemployment, why would anyone go through the trouble of sponsoring someone if it wasn't necessary? Additionally there are legitimate restrictions already in place such as limiting border crossings and delaying court dates, this seems more like messaging than having any real effects.

I think THESE restrictions are pointless, because of previous ones which I do agree with. The orange man looked extra orange yesterday btw. Do you think his doomsday bunker is just diet coke, big macs, and makeup?

I thought they averaged around $2k. Either way, the point is employers have to pay money.

I hope you are right.I’m amazed that so many would rather hate Trump than see the virus slow down and get the economy back on its feet.i understand that the goal is to see him gone, but now is not the time.

And probably should have been done earlier. And it's not going to shut down all immigration.
It will also need to be monitored to make sure it truly remains "temporary" after the virus threat is lifted.

know any specifics. Maybe someone with experience or expertise in agricultural harvesting and downstream supply chain can provide some thoughtful insight.
It seems the US meat processed facilities are experiencing some Covid-19 challenges. I would hope government actions do not jeopardize getting fruit and vegetables to the citizens tables during this pandemic.
Maybe fruit and vegetable harvesting will not be impacted by new immigration actions, at least let’s hope so.

Nothing says We're Open! like... We're Closed.
Not only is the horse already out of the barn, he's halfway to Charleston by now.
In the weeks following the "China Ban", 40,000 'exemptions' flew from China to the U.S., mostly American's and legal residents. None of them were quarantined.
It'd be like issuing an executive order to quarantine those people now.
It's a political stunt, nothing more.

Wouldn't mind a few genius (actual) medical scientists from overseas getting a VISA clearance or two to make it this way though. We've always been a nation of all-stars, and we could use a few more of those about now.
