outdoorgastanklesshotwaterheater.net question

Any you guise have a problem with one of these things. We've had ours for right at 10 years and never had a problem. Last night it didn't work. First time ever. Then after a few hours it worked, then didn't again. This morning it's working again. FWFW, it was raining yesterday. Checked fuses, GFCI, and the outside power switch next to it. No busted pipes, hot water had plenty of pressure, just stayed cold.
Could it be some wiring got wet? Flux capacitor? Lint trap?

Flushed ours a few months ago. Clean as a whistle.

It was raining yesterday. My guess is maybe a wire got wet inside and shorted? I know it takes electricity to start heating with the gas. It was just not activating for whatever reason. Gas was working fine, pilot light still lit in the fireplace. Gas valve was on.
Might pull it apart and see if any wiring is exposed in the bottom part. Never opened the top part.

since it needs power to start, but have not yet done this. Mine is in the garage, so I could hook one up easily, just not sure the power level needed for the unit. The manufacturer sells one, but it is expensive.

but the only way to tell for sure if it's working at any given moment, try running the hot water. If you have hot water, it's working.

You could do the monkey troubleshooting. Just start replacing parts until you fix it and they can train monkeys to do that type of troubleshooting.

gas line. in doing so apparently air got in the gas line leading to the water heater. had to bleed off the gas line at the water heater to fix the problem.
i know now that if you ever screw with the gas line to check all gas appliances.
