Maybe Germans. BOA going to turf

Apr 30, 2021, 8:51 AM

Ugghh. BOA going to artificial turf before start of 21 season.

Clemson is still considering it too.***

It would be a shame if an agricultural school didn’t want to grown its own grass for football. I also think turf is more dangerous and injury prone and have heard several athletes share this same concern.

I 100% agree with this. I have been disappointed with the look of our
grass the past couple of years, but NO WAY should an agricultural school
have a turf field.
DRad, get off the pot and give the grounds crew the money they need to get
our grass in shape.

I thinks its largely a maintenance issue for the University

Apr 30, 2021, 10:35 AM

in addition to a cost issue. While the cost of new field turf isn't cheap, once it has been installed and you yank that band aid off the cut, having it eliminates the ongoing maintenance that natural grass would require including having to repaint the field before each home game. Easier and less expensive to maintain over time.

But what would be the cost-benefit analysis for one or two

Apr 30, 2021, 11:01 AM

ankle or knee injuries?

I don't have the data, nor the time and energy to look it up.

But I could probably guess that one surgery would probably pay for grass being grown.

Turf - Large investment depreciated over many 10? years. Little maintenance.
Grass - Little investment, lots of maintenance.

We already practice on turf everyday...

Apr 30, 2021, 11:07 AM

so I'm don't think that would be a big issue.

No way. Maintenance or not, would be a sad day if this happens. Already taken away most of the hill. If we need revenue that bad, cut basketball. According to most on here, it's never going to win, no one attends games. Only a few are vested in it.... What'd I miss. Oh, Brad's a jerk. Then we could take littlejohn and build state of the art baseball stadium and the wimmens could move into the Doug.
