How about trying what the coots did to stop Tajh. That seemed to have worked. A "D" that works.

I love Tajh... but I don't think he is the gamer that Shaw is.
Can't explain it, but it's the truth.

fit him very, very well...
He can throw it enough to beat you if you don't respect it. If you drop too many, he'll beat you on his own.
That, combined with him flipping the switch when the lights come on, and he's d@mn tough.

Indeed but Shaw didn't win that game for them.

Clemson did WAY MORE to hurt itself than anything the $CU offense or defense did.

I agree... but our third down defense was just as important

The game was tied at 17, we just forced $CU to punt....

Clemson had finally siezed the momentum....and then... Humphries fumbles the ball (again).
The few times we managed to hold-on to the ball, the $CU defense could not stop us.

I agree... I don't think they could stop us either....

I thought we could have had a few more first half possessions, had we gotten off the field...
I think if we score that first drive, it's a different ball game.

SC was up 24-17 before Humphries's second fumble.

I believe that they had already gotten control over the game, seizing it on the drive (aided by the offsides on 4th and 1) where they took the lead. That fumble, and the play immediately following, ended it for Clemson.

South Carolina didn't stop Boyd. Boyd had a crazy high completion percentage at one point, and Clemson was moving the ball easily. What stopped Boyd was Humphries inability to hang onto punts.
That said, Venables defense did work, to the tune of allowing only 300 yards of offense. Even those 3rd down conversions weren't killers, as they mostly came in the first half.

I thought the defense played well... but 3rd down defense was as much of a factor as turnovers, IMO...
at one point they were 6-7 or something

Shaw show.
Now, that does matter when it comes to time of possession. I'm not saying it didn't matter.

turnovers on punts also affects TOP
Dec 2, 2013, 11:14 AM
|
|
Because they basically give the ball directly back to the other team without your team amassing any TOP. At least on the int on the WR throw and on Boyd's fumble, Clemson held the ball for a while and SC didn't start with the ball in Clemson territory.
