QB1 driving a Lambo on perimeter rd will blow the doors off that O-lineman on his moped

That O-Lineman may decide to let that D-Lineman or Backer blow through to QB1.

If we have any OL that would allow their QB to take a big hit on purpose simply out of jealously then our team chemistry probably wouldn't be very strong to begin with.

Absolutely, and will further separate haves from have nots

Another consequence of this potential change is schools who can offer greater exposure will get all the very best recruits. Major market teams like USC, UCLA, Ohio State, Notre Dame (NBC contract) will be able to sell kids that their likeness will have more revenue potential at schools who can offer greater opportunities for exposure. Could really make having an ACCN or SEC network carry a lot of weight. Schools like Ole Miss, or NC State who don't have a national following will have an even tougher time recruiting.

Perhaps the ultimate outcome will be the breakup of the NCAA as we know it. New associations will be based on its member schools ability to offer a certain level of economic opportunities to its athletes. The larger market schools and schools with large alumni bases will make up the top tier. The other schools will break out in lower tiers.

Please, don't under estimate the depths a school's boosters will sink to in order to have successful sports teams.

What's to stop someone like Trevor from getting rich after his freshman season and then sitting out til he's eligible to get drafted. I suppose he has that right now but he would be doing it without a stack of cash to hold him over. NFL might as well do away with the three year rule as well.

I wonder if this means the end of Fan Day and free autographs from name players for little Jimmy and Jenny.

Also I'm sure there are going to be string attached to this rule.

Why would any of this be different from now things are now? NFL quarterbacks make a ton more than most OL, but I haven't seen any stories of team chemistry being ruined over that.

In college, many players come from different backgrounds. We probably have several players who grew up poor and are lucky to have a car of any type, and we certainly have players who drive new and nice cars because their family can afford to provide that for them. I'm sure the extra spending money is also different for many of the players as well. The level of national exposure is certainly different for a few star players such as Lawrence, and it's rare that an OL gets very much attention.

Lawrence for instance has been talked up as a likely #1 overall pick in about 1.5 years from now, and he'll certainly be making millions at that point. On the other hand we have players who will never get drafted as well as others who will be drafted in much later rounds and make much less in the NFL. Why would it impact chemistry simply because Lawrence could be allowed to make a little money a year or two early? Especially when that money would be next to nothing compared to what he'd be making once he gets to the NFL.

I'm sure many teammates will be glad to share with his mates as much as he can by taking them out, or buying gifts if he's truly making large amounts of money. I could see a star quarterback or running back buying a gift for each of his OL for instance as we've seen in the NFL at times.

minimum pay in NFL is $480,000....I doubt the NFL rookies who don't play much are going to complain about money.

That's a lot of money without a doubt, but most people making the minimum pay are barely holding on to their spot in the NFL at all, and that money won't last a lifetime.

I'm just saying, if people think the chemistry of a college football team would be impacted by a few guys making a few thousand, 10s of thousands, or even over a hundred thousand(I have trouble believing many or any at all will earn a million or more) then why wouldn't it impact an NFL OL making 500k with little or none of it being guaranteed while his quarterback is making over 30 million per year at multiple years with at least half of it guaranteed? That's not to mention that same QB has his own shoe, and television commercial.
