girl. The Tigernet "family" has always come through when asked to pray for those needing Divine Intervention. Cassie Zeigler is the 18 year old daughter of a friend and former coworker of mine. She was born with severe muscular dystrophy, and other problems. She has always been confined to a bed or wheelchair, unable to speak, or control her physical movements, for the most part. But, she ALWAYS has a smile on her face, like it is permanently planted there. She has been a past March of Dimes poster child, and her parents are God given. He could not have chosen better parents to shepherd this special spirit through her life. The way they interact with her humbles me every time I see them.
Her latest challenge is a huge one. Scoliosis has advanced to the point that she HAD to have surgery yesterday to insert screws and a long rod to straighten her spine to take pressure off her internal organs. It was a hugely invasive procedure, taking over six hours, and many blood transfusions to complete. Due to her underlying problems, she is now still on a ventilator, being given large doses of meds to bring her blood pressure down, amid other problems. She is quite literally fighting for her life.
Please put Cassie and her family in your thoughts and prayers as you go about your day today. For those who do Facebook, her mother's Facebook is Shannon Dozier Zeigler. She is providing ongoing updates, last one at ~2 am this morning. They have had fund raisers in the past, and the club that joined those efforts is always called CASSY STRONG. I am asking only for your prayers, please join the prayer chain praying for this beautiful family.

from Faceplant post from her mom. She was in even worse shape than the docs had led them to believe at times last night. They nearly lost her. She is still on the vent, still being mostly sedated for pain. Regulating blood pressure with all the pain meds is a running battle. She is in the PICU, and will remain there for awhile, I think. At least, according to docs, she is much more stable today than last night. What a fighter she continues to be! We will all keep praying for her.

Cassie has been taken off the ventilator, breathing on her own now, and holding her own. And that smile is back on her face. One incredible spirit lives in that young woman. Please continue to pray for this family, and a HUGE thank you to all who have already lifted them up in prayer. They can feel the love, believe me.
