7.5 million dollar lawsuit

seems like a decent amount of money for being sexually harassed. Some crimes are so heinous that you are deemed guilty and must prove innocence. They will probably cut a deal and not pay the whole 7.5 million. 7.5 million seems like a lot, but the lawyers get their third for their hard work leaving the poor girl with only 5 million. Fed and State taxes on 5 million is about 60% so you are only left with 2 million after it is all said and done. If they settle for half, that's only a million.

Why would she pay taxes? A person doesn't pay taxes on a car wreck settlement. Is there a difference from lawsuit to lawsuit?

tax rates-and AZ is probably fairly low-the total should be less than 45%.

Re: Univ of Arizona Fires Rich Rod amid Sexual Harrassment allegations...

Sounds like Rich Rod cheated on his wife (not with the accuser). Which came out in all this and is not cool.
He also said that the school launched a 10 week investigation that found no wrong doing.
Notably, the accuser refused to work with investigators and provide them with any evidence that she said she had (texts etc). Sounds fishy but maybe a legal strategy?
Hmmmm....I will wait and see but on the surface it looks like the accuser may be using the current climate for a money-grab. I know I get roasted for saying that.

FWIW, he also claims that he passed a polygraph test and proved the results to the university.

Polygraph tests are jive. You just need to think of something stressful during the “control” questions. Not reliable.

The bottom line is that just about any college or University

can fire a football coach for any reason or no reason at all. Contract based employment pretty much always covers these things and Rich Rod is apparently getting paid to the terms of his contract:
"The university said it would honor the separation terms of Rodriguez's contract, which was set to run through May 31, 2020. Arizona is required to pay 100 percent of what remains on what it refers to as his "university-funded compensation" -- an amount that totals $5.46 million."
I understand how Rich Rod is upset that he is being dismissed over what he considers false allegations but since the University is living up to the separation terms of his contract there is really nothing he can do.
Something else that raises an eyebrow:
"The investigation, which concluded Dec. 28, determined the allegations could not be substantiated, but, according to Heeke and Robbins, "Arizona Athletics did become aware of information, both before and during the investigation, which caused it to be concerned with the direction and climate of the football program."
So the early signing period was 20 December and the investigation that concluded on 28 December could not substantiate the allegations. Yet the administration decided to fire Rich Rod anyway because of concerning information before and during the investigation that led to Rich Rod's firing. That would seem to indicate the University had their "firing information" prior to early signing day. The timing of this is curious - I wonder if any of Arizona's recruits that signed on December 20th can rescind their letters of intent without penalty??

Usually recruits can switch if the coach leaves. I would suspect that would fit here
