Yep. I think this has been the strategy all along...be a silent partner as someone else (FSU) tests the waters, line up a new home for a soft landing in the meantime, and be one of the first 2 schools to attempt to exit once it seemed viable.

The verbiage that the schools did not vote on the ACC lawsuit is interesting. You think some lawyers knew the ACC would overlook having members vote on whether to file a lawsuit against FSU. Definitely seems like FSU and Clemson are in lock step with planning this.

Clemson and FSU as a package deal is a much stronger sell than either of us alone...especially if B1G is the destination, where we'd essentially be their entire Southern division.

Easy there, Charleston has a lot of people who watch a lot of football. Better wording would be that Charleston is not Gamecock territory like they think it is. Down here it's about 5 in 10 Clemson to 3 in 10 SC to 2 in 10 some SEC bandwagon fans.

Anyways, don't lump Charleston in with Cola, because Charleston is not Cola. As a city, it's better in every way, and as a TV market, Clemson is the majority.

The SEC right now didn't have that school... but they have the chance now to rectify it, and send UofSC packing.

SCAR has 1.5X Clemson's enrollment, so I'd expect more SCAR grads to live in the Greenville-Spartanburg area than Clemson grads, but I've never seen data on it. Do you have any data on it?

The SEC has never kicked out a school, let alone in order to replace it with a more attractive school If they were going to boot schools based on TV revenue, they'd have booted Vandy long ago.

Clemson draws far more viewers than SCAR, but I don't see the SEC booting SCAR. They might add Clemson, but I think Clemson would be more attractive to the B1G than to the SEC.

The 2 schools from AL, MS, TX, & TN are making big SEC money so they're not going to uproot tradition and fly their student-athletes all over the country by jumping to the B1G.

Clemson is making little ACC money, so it would be worthwhile for Clemson to jump to the B1G. The B1G could find Clemson attractive because Clemson is a prominent football school with lots of eyeballs in an expanded geographic market.

So what you are saying is the ACC made a mistake having 3 schools within 30 miles of each not to mention a 4th school right down the road. I guess we should take UNC with us where ever we go to help out the ACC.

When the ACC was founded, conferences were designed to group relatively close-geographic schools so that student-athletes could compete at similar-level schools without huge travel-costs, travel-time, and jet-lag. As the TV-money increased, the conferences started expanding geographically to draw more eyeballs.

If the ACC were starting with a blank slate today, then the ACC probably wouldn't take the 4 NC schools-- and DEFINITELY NOT Wake.

If Clemson and FSU can escape the ACC, UNC will also bolt for greener pastures. UNC would be pretty attractive to both the SEC & B1G.

It’s not about geography anymore.

Not in today’s world.

It’s about viewership.

Clemson has massive viewership. They are a national brand.

Any conference would want that.

Plain and simple.

We have all known that the ACC stood for the Anti Clemson Conference ever since (and possibly before) the Tobacco Road homer (John Swofford) took command of the conference. Tournaments are held in the backyard of ACC Schools all the time, yet the ACC Baseball Tournament was moved away from Greenville, SC to Durham, NC because it was too much of a home field advantage for Clemson in SC.

Clemson is a Football School (among other sports played on dirt and grass) condemned to a basketball conference.

Well, I think the timing is pretty clear. CFP negotiations probably set off some alarm bells about urgency with a look in in 2028.

Bottom line is Sec and Big 10 showed everyone they are no caretakers of the sport as they portended in February. Now they have locked in $8 million more per year for their teams than acc teams. That's in addition to TV rights imbalance. So, the sport will be forced to rend itself apart to get money parity.

And G5 is left in the dust.

Hope they don't forget who really pays the bills... The fans. I can go watch a lot of different sports.

It's all fine and dandy but with Clemson's negotiating history it would not surprise me if they go join the Conference USA. Remember Clemson signed that stupid agreement to begin with.

Finally! F the ACC!***

Is this what Dabo meant when he said "you better but stock in Clemson now"? Hmmm. Get on board the train. Let's go Tigers.
