Star Ratings and NFL Draft Selections

Interesting data on NFL round selection broken down by recruiting star rankings. Should not be a surprise that 3-4 star guys make up the bulk of NFL Rosters. This is where player development in college comes into play.

We missed on a 3 star RB we got to late & hit on a legacy recruit we had been recruiting for a long time.

I’m going out on a limb here & saying that we got the better Running-back with Termite Jr.

isn't this just a function of the numbers of 5, 4, & 3 star players?

my understanding is, correct me if I am wrong..

5-star one of the top 30-50 players in the country

4-star one of the top ~300 (so, nearly 10 times as many as 5 stars)

3-star top ~10% (so perhaps 800-900?)

This is exactly it. Devil is in the details. I would be shocked if % of 5* is layers isn’t highest***

Yes, the article that graphic was pulled from goes into that. Way out of context to just look at the graphic alone. Moral of the story that was taken from...Stars matter ALOT.
