He compares that to two of our greatest qbs' second year starting numbers. But you want to judge by their first year numbers? That is a helluva way to determine whether or not you got a capable player on your hands.

And people just won’t get over that. Also, you’re comparing a Junior against 2 true sophomores as well, so. The stats you’re seeing with DW and TL are what you compare with DJ’s stats last year to get a more accurate comparison. You should also compare this season DJ vs 3rd year DW and TL. Otherwise you are moving numbers around to fit your argument.

I get your point. But sophomore TLaw and DW4 were phenomenal (as everyone likes to keep saying, generational QB's that carried our offense) and the 2 greatest QB's to ever play at Clemson. I wouldn't care if our QB is a 6th year senior. If they're in the conversation of having better or on par stats of those two greats, it's worth noting and mentioning.

Why? Not relevant to the post. The comparison is "sophomore" numbers versus "sophomore" numbers. No one is contesting Waton and Lawrence were more productive in their 1st years than DJ. I'm not even sure anyone would argue they would take DJ over the other 2, but this clearly shows DJ is doing an excellent job..

If you are a Tiger Football FAN how can you hate DJ...If you are not happy with this productivity in a storied College football program it does not mean that you hate him! Don't like how he's playing is not hate and probably anyone that some of the shills consider haters just want good or better work out of the quarterback...nobody hated KB back in the day....where would Clemson be if he had stayed around and started the rest of the season...If you are worried about comparing numbers compare KB 1st full year vs. DJ last year! Do not get the R** A** over someone having an opinion....if those are poultry having an opinion then get the R** A** and I don't mean ducks and geese!

To be honest, there were also lots of “We haven’t seen Cade handle adversity yet, so let’s give DJ more time” posts.
Eventually DJ has proven his worth. But he is STILL a work in progress.

Not hate...wanting better play from the QB position...If you watched DJ in the spring game he looked just like DJ from last year...overthrows, underthrows, bad throws etc... If Clemson fans were going to have to put up with that again then a revolution was needed! DJ is managing the game much better but as a Heisman Trophy candidate as others on this board has suggested he does not rank with other QB's in the ACC...get real, we can win with DJ...Bama won a natty with Mac and his biggest contribution was handing the ball off to running backs...Could you not suspect that Clemson fans would expect more given Watson and Lawrence...why not?

I agree not everyone or even most were or are still hating. In fact, some just wanted better play and that is understandable. However, there were quite few spewing hate on this board. There were posts about DJ and his family, specifically about the divorce of his mom and dad. There were posts stating DJ needed to go back to California. There were even posts making fun of his suits and how he dressed, calling him a diva. I can distinctly remember one poster stating that after Cade came in and threw a TD on his first drive during the GA Tech game that DJ looked upset and refused to congratulate Cade. This is the type of hate I was referring to. Please don't insult my intelligence and say it was not happening. Now, I never said these were Clemson fans or made a point of calling anyone out. These could have been board Coots just spewing hate. However, it is hard to hear when folks act like they never heard or seen hate on this board for DJ or any of the coaches. It is one thing to criticize play, but many called him a bust and some called him a diva and some wanted him exiled back to California.
I appreciate your well thought out response and, at this point, I just wish to continue on cheering for DJ and our Tiger's.

The sophomore years of TLaw and DW4. Don't remember their OOC games through first 7 in those years, but minus like UGA as first game last year, this has been our toughest ACC season through the start of season for sure. Adding an undefeated ranked Syracuse this week, a well stocked ND game and Miami with lots of talent but not well coached, we have a tough schedule.
That said, I am proud of DJ and he has proven me wrong after what I saw against GT combined with the great drive by Klubnick. I hope DJ continues to improve and we might make the CFP this year.

That is unbelievable. He is a different man this year. If he played in an offense that was better suited to his arm talent, those numbers would be better. You have to think at this point, he may be the best NFL QB prospect in the nation. Not saying he’s the best college QB. I’m saying he is a prototypical NFL scouts wet dream. He’s earned my respect through his play on the field. I was a big time hater and I was wrong.

Folks can talk about the statistics anyway they want, you can look at first year, second year, third year, etc. But bottom line, at this point in the season, DJ is having a year comparable to, even a little better than, DW4 and TL.
DJ is a #### good quarterback right now.
