The way I see it, people in position to decide if Stanford & gang

Aug 19, 2023, 1:26 PM

may join the ACC have already said no. There should be nothing left to discuss, yet the discussion continues. This makes me wonder what exactly is happening here. The Stanford/ND camp is behaving as if it will get its way eventually, but why would they think so? This has a weird feeling to it, IMO.

Stanford alums/boosters have a ton of money. There are no telling what kind of horse trading is occurring. Stanford has already stated that they would join the ACC for no tv payout for several years. Stanford is attempting to buy their way in to the conference. Tag with them SMU, another money rich school, and this entire thing could get interesting.

Why don’t the ACC just add ECU, Appalachian State and Buffalo. This makes about as much sense as the three that are pushing the door down to get in.

Just pin this comment -- it sums it up well.

$$$ is the driving factor for conference alignment -- doesn't have to make sense if the price is right no matter how many levels of common sense it breaks 😂

No one has officially said no yet because there has been no vote called. All they have up to now are straw polls to see where everyone stands. They are continuing to negotiate alternatives and at some point, they will call for an official vote and that will conclude the process, one way or the other.
