to post the story and the link. It's a pretty crappy thing when folks go this far to check into the life of a high school student.
COrrect me if I'm wrong, but isn't he still 17 years old? Dadgum!

You do realize that college also includes education...

Despite what you may think, a college athlete's eligibility is partially based on going to class and passing exams.
I'm sure Clowney will do fine at Clemson, and I'm not worried about that. But this is a completely legitimate topic for discussion.

First of all, as stated in the original post, it was the NY Times that covered the story not the Post. Know what you are b1tching about before you start b1tching.
And I can guarantee you that having an article about a South Carolina high school football player who never considered going to a school in the North East would sell ONE subscription to the Times, as for dying sales it's only the 3rd largest circulated printed paper in the country. I don't think a story about Clowney is a make or break for them.
The Civil War is over, time for you people to stop the blind hatred for NY and the NE.

He wanted the extra attention, and now he's getting it

He announces on signing day and this article never comes out. He wants to isolate himself from everyone else. He has to deal with the good and the bad that comes with that.

Not sure how that coach got his transcript, but FERPA

says hello if it was in relation to Clowney possibly enrolling there.
You cannot disclose someone's educational records without their consent. Wonder why the story showed up on T-Net, too.

students ... for instance, if an institution has reason to inspect grades before student enrolls, in this case Hargrave and coach.

Get this story off Tigernet? What a bunch of babies

asking this story to be pulled. You take the bad news with the good. Do you really think that some newspaper wasn't going to dig into Clowney's grades as much showboating as the guy has done. The hometown Rock Hill Herald certainly wasn't going to do that, but the New York Times will.
I posed the question two weeks ago was Clowney making a mistake delaying his signing. If indeed his grades are bad then his actions will only shine more light on that fact.

If Clemson admits JC then they could never turn down another athlete in the future. Is he worth risking that. This is not the first article to post how bad is grades are and were.

he's a great football player...that's why he has to get scores on the SAT or ACT as well as class grades...I know of one recruit this year who is a straight A student but struggles to break 800 on the new SAT format...the teachers like the kid and know he is a superb athlete so that's how he gets the grades...not saying Clowney's situation is similar, but it could be the case

rumor has been for some time that Clowney, Dukes, Townsend and Jerrell Adams were marginal at best for qualifying
