"The Orange & White"

Nov 12, 2015, 6:20 PM

Has this publication outlived its usefulness? By the time I get mine on Thursday, I am more focused on the upcoming game than the one 5 days ago. In the pre-Internet days, it was great to slide down the dinosur's tail, put on my slippers, clamp my teeth around my pipe, and kick back in the La-Z-Boy with some in depth coverage of Tiger athletics.

Here in the third millennium, I get most of my news electronically...in real time. Don't get me wrong - I still peruse the O&W, but do not read it word for word like I did as a younger man. And I love anything that celebrates Clemson athletics, but I typically know even the volleyball, tennis, and soccer scores via TigerNet. (Sigh) Progress...

By the way, to some degree the same can be said of the newspaper (I often read tomorrow's articles today on TigerNet) and even of Sports Illustrated (although not this week, received "BYOD" issue today. I am considering discontinuing all of my printed media subscriptions.

Anybody else feel this way? Not a flame...just an idea for discussion. This is a discussion board, right?

YEs, Yes & Yes!

Use to take two newspapers when lived in Greenville SC...reading the first one at breakfast table & one in the afternoon when I came home..in my modern black leather Eames lounge chair or out in the hammock with a drink.

In fact, Ex-Governor Richard Riley's two Boys carried the paper then since they lived down the street in a neat modern ranch house.

Quit the evening (actually when it quit me by going out of biz)..and haven't taken the morning paper for score of years.

Go#1CLEMSONTiGERS!

I agree but I'm an old timer...

Still holding on the daily newspaper but I'm almost there, that is cutting it off.

Agree about the print version. I download the digital (pdf) version as soon as it comes out on Tuesday so it is a bit more timely. Most of the articles have already been posted on the website. There are a couple articles about other sports that don't seem to be available elsewhere. They need some subscribers to justify selling ads and the writers do a pretty good job, so I guess I'll continue to subscribe for now.

I used to love to hold a paper and take my time

reading it. But now...paper just angers me. I want NO paper in my house.
All digital.

I can't wait to get the Sunday paper and see

Nov 12, 2015, 7:26 PM

how the top 20 fared, plus the Greenville paper will have 3 articles on Clemson.

If you live where you can purchase an Independent in a store, the O & W is included as
an insert in the Tuesday edition at no extra charge. The price of the Independent is $1.
