The logic of scholarship management in my view is ........

extremely flawed for Clemson. IF Clemson makes a mistake in its offer of a scholarship, the Clemson philosophy is to essentially never revoke the scholarship whereas most other programs keep scholarships on a year to year basis. That fact can be easily seen in the statistics on transfers from the Alabama program as well as some other successful programs. Alabama tends to offer many more scholarships on first come basis and then if another more desirable option fits it seems that the initially less desirable offer is apparently retracted or at most is given one year to prove one's worth. Another problem that I see is in the walk-ons that are elevated to full scholarship - if done those should be for only a year in order to fill the roster, then reevaluated at the conclusion of the season in question. Lastly, the program should only offer full scholarships to four-star or five-star athletes of friends, acquaintances, previous players, staff members, etc. and NOT just anyone. Also, if necessary, only offer one year rides to be evaluated. If an assistant or similar person is making as much money as ours are making, it seems reasonable that the parent can afford to pay for the athlete themselves; and if the player is extremely successful then the person can be given a full scholarship.
