The Dem party left poor white folk, before they left them...

Poor uneducated honkys were still voting democrat; thinking they were protecting their jobs with NAFTA, making their schools better, protecting small farmers, and not regulating industry into producing unobtainable necessities.
The Dem party has left them behind in favor of the ruling class, the royalty of America, and the poor of all other ethnicities in the U.S. and worldwide. The Dem party has asked the downtrodden honky to pay the college tuition of persons that have double and triple their income, pay for food for those that refuse to work, and blame them for black Americans being poor and uneducated.
The Libs of Tnet rejoice in the ignorance of the poor honky; and chide them for not continuing to vote for democrats, and democrat surrogates.

Can't imagine why poor whites (or any other poor natives) would vote for whoever at least pretended to care about not allowing in millions of illegals to suppress their wages and hurt their standard of living. But rich leftists need people to mow their yards, clean their homes and raise their kids so all the US born poors who want an actual decent wage to do those things can just #### off. The left does expect these schmucks to pay off their student loans, eat bugs for dinner and live in grass huts (for the environment silly) while the rich elites party like it's 1999 in their private jets and beachfront compounds. And if the poors don't allow the elites to turn their Johnny into a Susie then they'll take their kids away to boot. Can't possibly imagine why they vote the way they do

Is it your view that liberal Dems are the source for problems in the 'poor white folk' community?

I see alot of Republicans and self-proclaimed "conservatives" say that the left & Democrats are responsible for the plight of white rural America, or working-class whites in general.
It's an interesting take, because historically conservatives were of the opinion that people were responsible for their own well-being. And if a community had issues, it was a problem within that community, and they needed to lift themselves up by their own boot straps. That was certainly the conservative view back when there was talk of inner-city black poverty.
But I'm not seeing that talking point as much lately from the same people about white rural poverty.
I do happen to believe that small towns that were overly reliant on one plant or one industry have been disproportionate victims of Technology & Globalization. The automation that's occurred over the last 50 years has allowed manufacturing & mining to produce more with fewer people. There have also been plant closings as relocation overseas. I think this has occurred not due to any specific political party, but due to stone cold capitalism. This type of thing is inevitable, as the creative destruction of the market churns, but it hurts communities that are impacted.
The question is what do you do to help these people? And I don't think screaming and yelling about immigrants is helping anyone in areas like Eastern Kentucky or West Virginia.

because if their life is chitty, they know it is their fault, not yours.
This thinking is in stark contrast to that of the left that says "If my life if ufcked up, someone besides me must be to blame"

Rural America, which is largely white & largely GOP voters, blames forces from outside those areas for their plight. Even the OP's post implies blame on the Dems for the plight of poor whites.
When it was Urban Black America that was having problems, these same GOP voters told them to buck up and fix their own lives.
The truth is that there's a mixture of reasons why areas suffer or excel. We are responsible for our own lives. It's up to us to get an education and learn skills to take advantage of our talents. But our environment matters, too. It's easier to become financially successful when you grow up in an area with alot of economic opportunity & good schools & strong family support. I think Rural America is the victim of technology, globalization, and brain drain. I think Urban areas are stronger than they used to be economically, as people have relocated into cities, and that's lifted all boats in those areas. But there are still pockets that suffer.

So what about paying off billions of dollars in student loans? You ok with that? If so, why? Especially when we are already experiencing record inflation.
