as long as that something that is working is the passing game.

Could be the second coming of ETN.
Could be the second coming of Mike Bellamy or Jamie Harper.
That's why I don't follow recruiting too closely.

Whether we keep him or not depends on the MLB draft though.

They are great OC's. I have no problem with them at all.

They called a helluva better game than all-world Alabama's OC called last night. It's tempting to get on the assistant coach merry-go-round. Saban does it. They've been through 11 assistant coaches to our TWO who have left, and that's only since 2014. And you see the results with the game Alabama called.
But I think overall, OC and DC's get blamed for too much. We owned the intangibles in this game. Alabama had an inflated ego and did not play well. They weren't as hungry as we were. They expected us to be intimidated like everyone else they play and we weren't.
Our OC's are so good because first off they have a very good stable of plays from which they can call. PLUS, and this is key, they take what the defense gives us. If a defense is good, and wants to stop our run, they will. Alabama basically did, minus some chunk runs. So we passed all over their butts. There have been teams determined to stop our passing and selling out to cover our WR's. So we run 300+ yards in a game. We have a balanced set of talent on this team. Great QB, great RB's, great OL, etc. We can take whatever any defense wants to give us.
Alabama gave us the pass plays last night and sold out to stop our running game. So TL had a career night. Had they sold out on coverage, ETN would have had a career night.

I thought we did a good job of running enough to keep the defense honest and mixing it up on first down.

just a "deep pass". Most of the time, there are multiple reads based on the defense and if a WR beats that coverage and TL16 made the reads.
I thought they called a great came with dang near perfect balance, considering we could run up the middle for sheet.

Interesting stats:
Jan 8, 2019, 4:38 PM
|
|
Alabama 37 rushes, 36 passes Clemson 31 rushes, 32 passes
Alabama 148 yards rushing, 4.0 avg Clemson 135 yards rushing, 4.4 avg
Surprised that both teams were that balanced and that the rushing yards were that even.
