So our deepest QB room ever has now lost

our two year starter to transfer, a backup to transfer, and another backup to graduation.
Thankfully, we still have Cade. Vizzina will be here next year.
We are currently very thin at QB. Any QBs we are targeting who might be able to help us? Or are we just looking for a nice guy who can play backup and maybe be on our coaching staff one day?

I believe we are about to pick up a transfer, Paul Tyson. Not 100% but it looks good. Yes, he is definitely going to be in a back up/mentor role.

He doesn't look like a #2 or maybe not even a #3 for next year.
I think Helms is #2 in the spring unless we pick up a transfer.

I’m sure Dabo will tell us that all of our QBs are amazing and they can all win games for us, but with our track record of developing QBs being what it is I’d like to see more talent on our depth chart.
We had three 5-star QBs on our roster this year and ranked 55th in total offense and 74th in passing offense. That doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence in this coaching staff.

Could you imagine our basketball team with a 5 star and a 4 star playing with other 3 stars?

Point is, we’re in an envious position with our QB room next year. This was a swing and a miss brother.
We would have killed for this “thin” QB scenario 12 years ago and every year prior

We still have Will Taylor and he is no slouch. Although I think he'll follow baseball. I just hope he stays engaged with football as a receiver.
I'm assuming that's why we were hosting a portal qb today... not sure why. Our room was overcrowded anyway. Still have Hunter Helms and he's seasoned. Also Trent Pearman on the scout team.

It reminds me of our bench in men’s basketball that hasn’t contributed much this year. We are still looking for that sixth man off of the bench that can get us to the NIT and salvage Brownells job!

Pretty similar to the situation when TL came in and took over, guys left in pre-season, KB left week 4.

For the bowl game we still have Hunter Johnson, and we can worry about next season, next season. But personally, I don't look for something to stress over until it's time to worry it bc, that problem may never come up!!!

If you are expecting a 4 or 5 star qb to come in and be 3rd string behind Cade and Viz, forget it. We've got two 5 stars, then a couple backups for 3rd and 4th string. I don't see the qb room being thin at all.

Our QB1 will have 1 start under his belt and everyone behind him have virtually zero real game experience at the college level so I'd say we are definitely thin on experience across that entire room. We have a lot of talent but we have to get it developed and hope QB1 doesn't go down and that Viz is a quick study.

I was telling someone yesterday that Dabo may be ahead of the curve on QBs. Gone are the days of stockpiling talent at the QB position. The players that are able to make a difference are going to transfer. Clemson is actually loaded with QB talent next season and will need to split reps to keep Cade and Christopher both happy. Dabo is forward thinking by bringing HJ in for this season and hopefully the guy watching practice yesterday for next season.
Now I am not going to bring up the dead horse issue because that is another discussion.
