College baseball still earns more, and the college World Series will always have more viewership, attendance, and revenue than the softball college World Series.

Show me any data whatsoever where the women’s college World Series had more viewers, attendance, or revenue. You do realize you can look that data up right?
You can’t because the college World Series has ALWAYS been much more popular than the women’s college World Series.

And that still doesn’t change the CWS brings in way more fans from all over the country and attendance will always be higher. College baseball will also always bring in more money than softball.

when it comes to sports viewership.
Most sports fans have no idea who the “blue blood” college baseball teams are. You sound silly trying to argue that viewership was down because it was Vanderbilt and Virginia and not someone else. Do you honestly think the viewership would have been much different if it were Cal State Fullerton and Arizona State?!?

Then why has the CWS always had more viewership than the WCWS except for 2015? If I missed a year you’re welcomed to point it out.
College baseball is the third most watched and monetized college sport. So I’m thinking the only one sounding silly here is you saying college baseball is “barely a blip” on sports viewership since there are literally only two sports with higher viewership.
And are you trying to argue that teams playing have nothing to do with viewership? I sure hope not.

My bad I see why you said that. I said baseball was the third most watched and monetized sport.
I saw an article posted on here yesterday saying softball this year joined football, baseball, and basketball as the only sports that actually make money. I can’t find that article now, but that’s why I said that. I could have misread it or made a mistake though.

So yes I was wrong (shocker huh).
I misremembered what I read. I thought I read that football, basketball, and baseball were the only money makers. What I actually read was the sports that make more money than softball are football, basketball, and baseball.

Yes I made two mistakes. Isn’t the first time I’ve made mistakes and won’t be the last. I’m not above admitting mistakes.
Clearly my point still stands. College baseball makes more money than softball. The CWS has more viewership than the WCWS, except 2015. College baseball has more attendance than college softball. That was my original point when I responded to whoever I responded to.

at won the state championship in 2019, runner up the year before, good chance they could have won it last year until our beloved COVID. All 5 seniors have scholarships to play in college, one signed with UNC. I’ve compared it to arena league football, smaller field makes for a quicker game. Been watching the games today and have seen some great plays. Very excited about out Lady Tigers and the success they have had so early on. Future looks to be pretty bright as the roster has a lot of freshman

Lots of other posters hit on this; watching a win is more fun than watching a loss. Even so, I'd rather watch a fast paced 2 hour loss than a plodding 4 hour loss.
Without some major changes baseball on a whole is in a lot of trouble for reasons that have been described many times, so I won't go into that. Bottom line is that Women's softball does a better job at pretty much everything that is prohibiting baseball from attracting new fans: pace of play, time of contest, enthusiasm, humility.

I totally agree…..Clemson softball is much more fun to watch than either Clemson’s men’s basketball or baseball…….never thought it would ever get this bad for our baseball or basketball programs…..Go Tigers!!!!!

That competitive or well played softball is very fun to watch and quicker pace etc. poorly played softball to me is more painful to watch. But I definitely get what you’re saying.
