So where will all the fan/TV revenue go?

Aug 3, 2020, 12:24 PM

Let us say 50% of revenue goes to the athletes playing the sport and some rest go to support minor sports. THen there is cost of running the teams, scholarships, transportations, medical staff, palatial facilities and coaches salaries large and small.

Will anything be left for the university in whose name these enterprises are to be run?

I don't want Clemson's name to be used by NFL's minor league teams if there is nothing in it for the university other than entertainment. Of course even today we are a minor or D-league for NFL, but there is at least a modest amature model. Further, once each individual gets their own pay package (naturally Trevor or ET should get more than 3rd stringers), it will be a complete mess.

And we could have dominated for 10 more years, but college football is (almost) dead/dying.

Where do you get the idea that college football is almost dead,or dying?College football is probably stronger now than ever, and will likely to get even stronger in the next decade.
This season is something that c
aught everyone off guard, but it caught every sport off guard.
But they are back playing Major League Baseball, and the NBA,+ Professional Golf,Auto Racing, even Horse Racing is in full gear.
If College football dies, then more than likely every college sport will die,and in turn every professional sport that looks to the college ranks for players, and coaches.

The Get Woke, Go Broke model of corporate enterprise applied to sports doesn’t bode well. But some things are more important than making money or providing customers with politics-free entertainment.
