which is the most accurate/reliable? Least? I've heard people say that both Scout and Rivals are the best....just curious. I know E$PN can be biased at times

None. Trust the coaches. Wrestling,Lizard Lick and Recruiting Services all came from the same mold.

I never read too much into star rankings, but I do always wonder when one services has one kid ranked significantly higher than the others

Check out Recruiting section here

and scan some players. You'll notice Scout is almost always the lowest rating for any player and often ESPN is the highest.
I say what do they know about how a kid will develop once in college?? I trust the coaches for that judgement. My favorite example is always that Nuk was not so highly rated coming into recruiting season. But clearly by the time he hit the field full time he was a 5 star and made it first round to the NFL.

Making a point or just stating a number?

Some 'experts' had him rated as low at number 30 ish for his position coming out of high school. By the time he hit the turf that seemed way too low.

Just adjust for SEC bias and it is about as reliable you can hope for.

Rivals and ESPN, that's it. Scout and 247sports are garbage when it comes to recruiting rankings.

otherwise "absoluteness" that seems to be the definition on this star system. Maybe we can ask that "numbers never lie" skit on espn to run some numbers on that- I personally think it is way over appreciated and costly in some aspects- Many many players excelled without high star ratings. Also, it assumes an athlete's learning and growth period is proven from 15ish- 18ish as if this is the center point in his bell curve of ability. H3ll I was 30 before I really began to learn things...But yes I agree with you and it is a generalized point of reference. If it weren't for Tylenol PM I'd give more examples such as character and moral integrity which are not factored in and so on and on...Garcia cost the coots more than he helped them.

I heard the last couple years that 24/7 was the most accurate but who really knows...Its just a guess and opinions for the most part...
