Saban and Fisher hypocrites or Bama and Texas A&M?

Nick and Jimbo went back and forth this past summer about NIL and buying their teams and Saban calling for transparency and Jimbo saying he has nothing to hide. Yet neither school will provide information on NIL deals, specific or general or whatever. And the NCAA has backed off on managing NIL or getting a third party involved for fear of litigation especially since the NIL issue went all the way to the Supreme Court. Welcome to semipro football, formerly known as college football. Interesting article -
https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/34739678/following-nick-saban-jimbo-fisher-nil-spat-schools-answer-call-transparencyBama among schools to not disclose NIL data Following the NIL spat between Alabama coach Nick Saban and Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher, ESPN sought to take the coaches and other universities up on the notion that NIL information should be more transparent. But schools provided few to no records.

Say it ain't so ... your post implies that Saint Nick and the Fisher of Men are crooked.
Censor yourself and resign from TNet before ESPN confiscates your iPhone.

When you are not transparent, that means you have something to hide.

Sometimes not being transparent is because it is nobody's business. Most privately held companies don't publish their P&L. That doesn't mean they are hiding something. I'm not sure if private contracts between an individual and a private company are subject to release. Really a grey area here. It would be best, in this case, to be as transparent as possible I would think.

I don't think many schools will disclose any more than they're required to. NIL deals are private contracts between athletes and third parties that don't directly involve the schools.. so without some kind of regulation requiring schools to disclose that info, I don't see it happening.

I don't think the schools even have the power to make their athletes tell them about any NIL deals they may have signed.

Athletes are required to disclose all NIL deals to the athletic department compliance department. Most are using apps like opendorse for tracking. The compliance department must approve each deal. That means the schools know and are refusing to report. This also means if a deal does not meet the requirements that the compliance department would be at fault.

If they aren’t required to disclose, then good for them.***

I think in the spirit of an even playing field: "NIL deals should be public or reported to the NCAA"!
Otherwise, what is stopping a school from just paying the player?
If a NIL can be traced and documented and not tied to the school; perfect. And, good for the player. If not, you are in violation.
Or if they just want to stop the facade; have leagues that allow it. Stop acting like a small school like App St. will ever win a National Championship in FBS. Create a separate league that allows schools to pay players along with NIL deals.

I don't disrespect Saban for that. He plays the cards dealt.
