2014 Article on "Dabo Swinneys ridiculous contract extension
Jan 20, 2016, 6:17 PM

This week I have been cleaning out old emails at work and I stumbled upon an email from an old coworker of mine regarding Swinney's contract extension back in 2014. We all know what he and his coaching staff accomplished this year, and are deserving for all the bonus's and salary increase that come along with that success. What amazes me is the comments not only made by the writer, but also fans who posted their "thoughts" on how horrible of a decision this was
Here is the article for your reading pleasure:

I think only one of those dumpers survived.

STS cleaned house. The guys there suggested that Clemson University had something to do with the house cleaning that went on there. They rode Dabo's butt from the start. S&C program caught it week after week for several years.
They were the source of most of the dumping here on Tnet. You could read a negative post here and find the source by clicking on that website. Trouble makers from helll, imo. They thrived on negative sensationalism.
They had a following of the nasty side of our fans. It's still there but they've toned it down enough to stay out of trouble.

Typical of STS editorial opinion of the time ...

A couple of guys over there were pretty relentless on certain topics. Strength & Conditioning being one primary example, and Dabo's "ineptitude" being the other.
It's a much better site now.

And they also vote, which probably explains why we are in such a national mess.

My criticism of the contract, then and now, is the lopsided buyout in the coaches favor. The same is true for Brads contract.

Well not to defend the article because it was obviously flawed, but I think it was written out of the sentiment/feelings from Bowdens last contract which hurt us for a while. That Bowden deal burned the Athletic department and they thought that could be the same mistake. Obviously they were wrong but I can see how they thought "here we go again"
