Remember, radakovich hired paul jerkson

that was really a pretty good hire for GT

In some ways I'd agree.

Oct 29, 2012, 10:18 AM

But it's not an attractive offense for recruiting.

Tech has a hard time recruiting anyway

Oct 29, 2012, 10:19 AM

for a bunch of reasons. So getting an offense that doesn't require 5-star guys to run is a good thing in their situation.

So does Calvin Johnson commit to GT today?

Oct 29, 2012, 10:24 AM

GT recruiting problems had more to do with Gailey and Johnson, but at least Gailey could land a top guy here and there.

Not a chance

Oct 29, 2012, 12:14 PM

but would Johnson have even considered GT if he wasn't an Atlanta native?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No it wasn't it was a terrible hire...

and anyone could have told you why.

Any good hire has the ability to repeat it's results.

The reason why people went away from the triple option, wasn't because it didn't work, but because the best players wanted to play in higher profile offenses.

You are starting to see what happens when you don't have top level athletes running the triple option. I just isn't as effective.

Johnson won a bunch of games at Navy because they weren't going up against FSU, VT, UNC, heck even Clemson level defenses.

seems to me the problem is their defensive personnel

Oct 29, 2012, 10:24 AM

not their offense. If they could just hold teams to about 21 pts/ game, they'd be winning 9 every year.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So if you are a defensive player...

Oct 29, 2012, 10:26 AM

do you want to run against the triple option every day in practice?

GT's offense really hasn't gotten anywhere against good defenses this year. Not like in years past with they had Reggie Ball, Thomas, etc.

I don't honestly think that they practice their 1's against

Oct 29, 2012, 12:36 PM

the triple option every practice.

That would be just plain stupid.

Maybe DR can give PJ a 100 million buyout

Oct 29, 2012, 10:18 AM

and then fire him at the end of the season. We get an AD and financially cripple GT all at the same time. ;)

if you don't support the AD, then you don't support the
