XT converted to LB

With The depth at DE. Wouldn’t it make sense to at least try. He’s a playmaker and I feel he would excel at any of the front 7 positions .

We have been dying to have depth at DE for a few years now. They aren't moving them anywhere. Injuries will happen at any time and unless we start having linebackers dropping like Bama then a DE will stay a DE.

Why?

Teams are not monolithic - guys play specific positions and know you are ‘only’ hypothesizing, but why ask the question? XT May come to practice and move into the starting position (unlikely), but I guarantee he still wants to play DE at this time.

I don't think he was saying it would happen, just that it would be more likely that out of the commits that KJ would move to linebacker over XT.
It does make sense though as KJ is 235 and XT is 260 that out of those two it would be more likely KJ would move rather than XT.
That being said, not gonna happen.

I think he meant in a hypothetical way, that KJ would be a better slide than XT due to sheer size. Of course, this isn’t going to happen. Of our current team, the natural slide to LB would be Simmons to fill DOD slot, but we aren’t going to scavenge our secondary to do so - kid would be an amazing fit there. He’s a beast.

I know it’s not happening too, but I could see Mascoll play some LB.
Just for kicks, could you imagine our front 4 with XT, Lamar, and Joseph as linebackers? No one could or would even try to run on us.

Before we start any of this talk we have to find out what they can do at this level of football. Football isn't all about speed, strength, and how hard you might tackle. It's about being in the right place every play and knowing your assignments. Lets's be a little patient with these guys.

I could see them potentially working KJ or Mascoll at LB, both are in the 235 lb range right now but not XT at 270ish. We will see.

Is it a crime to have XT sit one season behind two of the best in college football in Ferrell and Bryant and learn from them, while still seeing playing time?
