Sen Rick Scott of FL is right to an extent that all "able-bodied & wealthy" Americans not paying a cent should pay a little something so to have some skin in the game.
I agree!
With less workers paying in & more loafers, then you can see how this imbalance will kill Social Security sooner than later.

you can become the board watch dog and read through all of these bills for us, then let us know what is in them. You could start with Scott's tax plan, and let us know who it will hurt., and who it will help. It is like anything else, you can not take some slick politician's word for it, you have to put in the work.
Let us know what you find out.

Instead of food stamps, why can’t we just hand out packets of tomato, cucumber, lettuce, and wheat seeds?

Apparently cucumbers are among the esteemed vegetables to you, Touch the Rock.
But most of the needy are not into your view of pleasure ... maybe leave the cucumber seeds out and include beets or potatoes (yes, you can grow potatoes using seed).

Cucumbers are good in salad. While I agree many are needy, I’d be okay with randomized drug test on government aid recipients above the age of 18 and below the age of 55. Also you will be subjected to random physicals Just like everyday contributors.

Philosophically, this is a great idea. Worth figuring out a way to get it done.
However, if implemented quickly, then it would royally screw those who had worked all their lives, paid taxes to the king like a Welsh sharecropper, and then upon retiring end up paying enormously higher prices on everything due to the (enormous) new Federal sales tax.
But again, figuring a way to phase something like this in without ruining the lives of the elderly might just have a lot of merit.

Good point. Just imagine what the elderly on fixed incomes are going through now with the inflation crisis. It’s really sad honestly.
