Just my 2 cents. It's almost impossible to follow a legend like that. Expectations are WAy too high and tolerance level WAY too low for anything less than the precedent set by someone like Saban. Every now and then a team/school can make it work. But very rarely. Just too many variables in play, especially now. It'll be interesting to see how many jump ship after this announcement, either recruits or transfers.

It'll be interesting to watch, that's for sure!

Swimmer is correct. That is when Clemson fans need to be worried. It is the hiring to replace the replacement when Bama will come for Dabo.

It depends on who they hire. There's never a time where they've had a high tolerance for NOT winning. Every coach since Bear has coached directly in his shadow, and been directly compared to his results. It will be the same now, except with Saban. If they go through 8 coaches in the next 30 years, the 9th will be judged compared to Saban.

I think they know their standards, and know how quickly they'll move on from guys who don't meet those standards. Which is why I think they'd much rather hire Dabo than Lanning. Hiring a NC winning coach worked for them the last time. You would think they would go back to that playbook.

Probably not, but they will walk away from their firing with tens of millions coming their way. Not exactly a scenario most would avoid.

Exactly. The next dude will not last. He may go 10-2 each year, but that record at Bama is a death sentence unless you play for the natty every other year. If the new guy had an 8-4 year, pitchforks and torches....
