I work in PR and find all of this fascinating. So I’ve got to ask - what would you want Dabo to say when asked about this season and the state of the program?

How do you let “Tyler from Spartanburg” set you off on an embarrassing rant? It’s because you’ve been stewing on the fan thing and can’t get past it. Tyler was a ####, but I couldn’t care less about him. Dabo is the HC and should have be able to avoid being set up by “Tyler.”

I would’ve acknowledged Tyler’s concerns, said how great it is to have such passionate fans at Clemson, and reiterated that my expectations are as high as anyone’s, which is why this year is such a frustrating one.
I also would’ve said that I am always evaluating the program with a critical eye, and that my staff and I are working hard to do better as coaches so that we can return to being the kind of team that we have been.

I cannot recall if I have ever defended JK, but you just called him (or her) an idiot.
That is worse name calling than Tyler did to Dabo.

A clear headed, confident Dabo would have said that. I think Dabo is actually for the first time scared. In the beginning he had nothing to lose and went for it. Now all that he has built is crumbling and I’m not sure he knows how to handle it or what to do in order to fix it. He clearly thought the team was better than it is. Whether or not he thought they were championship level should decide his job, but clearly better than a .500 team so he didn’t prepare himself for this, probably couldn’t have imagined it. This is also the first time we’ve ever seen his seat get warm let alone hot so we can’t truly say we knew how he was going to act, but we all know now!

Look, Tyler definitely made it too personal. There are plenty of questions you can ask about roster management, the hiring of coaches, player development, that don’t make it personal.
But Tyler could be anybody. Tyler’s shot did not deserve the long rant that it got. Tyler could’ve easily been a rival fan….who knows.
There is already a national narrative now on this very subject when it should be about the upcoming game with Notre Dame. Same thing happened two weeks ago about that whole 98.5%/1.5% crap. Totally unnecessary and self-inflicted. The response should’ve been much more muted and much shorter. See Judges example below. This again is another example of less is more. Defuse the situation and move on. There is an art to this. Dabo HAS to know these kind of questions are coming and be more prepared. Again, there is a much better way to handle it.

He has always done things his way and people have thrown shots at Clemson and Dabo no matter the wins or losses.
He speaks with passion ... That's the type of guy you can get behind. Sometimes when someone gets in your face, especially in tough times, you flip the table over and tell them to take another step and fight your battles.
Some just lay down and avoid conflict. Dabo has had enough of it and good for him not taking crap from people.

Ok so I don’t know if it is kosher to reply to yourself, but I’m going to do it anyway. I’ll pose another question - any chance Dabo was attempting to shift the focus on to him and off a bunch of 18-22 year old kids, with the exception of XT of course. That dude is older than Renfrow.
