Lots of chatter

6

Sep 11, 2023, 8:34 PM

I see a lot of posts on here about inexperienced coaches. Some of the same couldn’t get rid of Cauldwell soon enough. Now the Oline is a problem. If the coaches were experienced then bring in some new blood to shake things up. If they are young and inexperienced, then bring in some older guys with some experience. I don’t know what the problem is but I know enough to know what I don’t know.

You come to the wrong place to talk with some common sense.

You haven't posted on here long enough yet. We let you get in 100 posts before we call you a Coot.

Wow this is not true. I was called a coot on my very first post.

TNET is home to illogical, emotional chatter

Sep 11, 2023, 8:53 PM

and there is no place for logic or reason. Funny thing, if we'd had won the Duke game by 3 touchdowns, you'd probably see the same type of chatter here. The coaches can't hold a candle tot he brain trust on TNET.

Man, this board lacks the intensity that it used to have. I would have had at least one person call me a coot or add something oddly political or personal by now. I somehow feel safer in this space than I have in a long time. Thank you sweet sweet tNet. I’m kidding, I was the first to want Steele gone and probably said something similar about Venables after Ohio St. Just wasting some time trying to get someone to call me a coot.

HLRT this is off topic but I saw before you said the 12pm favors us vs FSU. I might have missed the reasons why would you mind letting me know. I think maybe not a whole day for the kids to get in their own heads but would like to see your thoughts. Thanks.

I’d looking back on it, bringing in multiple coaches for a Top 5 program with little to no Div-1 or even Div- 2 coaching experience probably is a questionable move. No clue if that’s the problem, but I do believe the consensus is something has changed in relation to several different areas of the program.

Mistakes happen, it’s rather anyone has the answer on how to fix the issues is the only question that needs to be answered

“Now the Oline is a problem”.

The Oline has been a problem for the last 10 years. We’ve just had generational players at RB, WR, and especially QB.

Caldwell never produced a quality product!

He produced two lines that won national championships. Lots of really good coaches can’t say the same. Generational quarterbacks don’t look good on their backs.

Please, go on about how bad the Oline has been under Swinney. And before you go off about the 6 TFLs, 4 of those were late in the game when the Tigers were killing the clock.

However, what I DID see Saturday on the pick six play is somebody on the left side of the line get absolutely rolled by a CSU lineman.

I was not calling for Caldwell's head, but there is a difference that I don't think is that hard to understand. Caldwell was very old and was ready to retire. He was a great line coach in his prime. We hardly ever had amazing linemen from a talent perspective, but they all played great as a unit. But you just can't be a positions coach if you're too old to actually demonstrate the position. An offensive line coach has to be able to put their hand on the ground and get dirty. Caldwell no longer could. It doesn't mean you go out and hire an extremely inexperienced coach.

Let's compare with the teams we want to be competing against. UGA went out and hired Stacy Searels, a first team All-American line coach who is still in reasonable shape and has produced a ton of NFL linemen at a number of schools, most notably LSU during their 03 championship and UT when they were good in the late 2000s. Alabama has Eric Wolford, an NFL offensive lineman who coached the offensive line of the 49ers. Ohio State hired Justin Frye, another stud lineman who has over a decade coaching under his belt, including coaching UCLA's excellent offensive line the past few years. Michigan has Ed Warinner, who has over 20 years coaching offensive line, and is a former offensive coordinator and the line coach of Ohio State back in 2014. Texas has Kyle Flood, former head coach at Rutgers and former offensive line coach for Bama for one of their titles.

We hired Thomas Austin, who coached for a year at Georgia State. Do you see the difference?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Its a huge difference.

Sadly, we can do the same for RB, WR, TE, LB, etc.

Most of our position coaches had little to no coaching experience when Dabo hired them. It’s ridiculous Fahd he thought that was a good idea, and equally as ridiculous that others allowed him to do it.

if you take Clemson out of the employer line and leave it blank.

Years of experience with a Power 5 league leader and 2-time Natty Large for most. Streeter was second only to Lincoln Riley for QB coaching success over their spans, provided your measure is Heisman over Natty.

Fix Red Zone scoring issues and TO's and we're in last year's CFP and 2-0 in '23.

Don't buy the Mayo.

Great athletes make average coaches look great. Recruiting is my only concern. Get more studs and this coaching chatter would dissipate. We have some highly rated players but not all of those have translated into game changers.
