enough of Clemson and its entitled segment of the fanbase. It would not surprise me if he walks away after this season. And when he does, here are some realities.
1. Our 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes are gone. If we don't have winning talent NOW, it will be much, much worse for awhile.
2. Who will step in as Head Coach that is willing to fix this mess? Even though Clemson is a MUCH more desirable coaching destination now than it was in 2008 when Dabo was named Head Coach, we still face the headwinds of being in the ACC, and being a small town college. Dabo overcame those disadvantages better than any coach we ever had, and that included Saint Danniford. Someone like a Matt Rhule could do it, but why would he want to? If we run off a coach that had 12 straight seasons of 10+ wins, just because he had ONE truly down year, then this fanbase would never give a new coach time to rebuild. And, make no mistake, regardless of spin, this IS the first truly down year since our run of success began. We won the ACC just LAST YEAR! But, armchair coaches don'tlet inconvenient facts like that get in the way of a ridiculous argument.
3. If you think players transferring out of here has been a problem in the past, just watch the Exodus when Dabo gives us a hearty FUall. We might have to hire Neon Deion to bring in enough transfers just to field a team. But, that is what some seem to want. Keep on keeping on, you may speak it into existence yet. But, it won't be to your liking, we already know that from current complaints. With Dabo gone, it will get far, far worse before it gets better, if it ever does. I would have been willing to bet that Dabo already had a succession plan in place. But, as in most cases, when the fanbase gets disgruntled, those succession plans are rarely allowed to come to fruition.

An appointment with a Neuroproctologist might help him get his head out of his a$$.
It is Clemson’s team, not his and he needs to check his arrogant “holier than thou” attitude and get with the times and do whatever it takes to win for the university; not continue to act like the poor little victim.

Don't think he will leave a program in shambles that he has built from the bottom up. I believe he will right the ship and walk in a couple of years.

Dabo has had all these cute sayings over the years. The one that sticks out is "Best is the standard". And all the fans bought in, and loved him for it. Now, when Clemson is not "the best" they're calling him on it. And they should. Did you mean what you said Dabo or was it just lip service?

Fragile? I don’t understand why so many that post think they can say anything they want to about or to Dabo but then don’t think he should be able to respond to criticism in his way. Obviously, there are some legitimate questions to pose to Dabo about this year’s problems but personal attacks are going to get a response. I am continually amazed at the stupidity of so many who post on this site. And that is not intended to apply to This JK post.

but there are appropriate ways of going about that.
As you can see from the national reaction to Dabo's most recent rant, plenty of people feel that he was out of line.
Someone of Dabo's stature and importance should be held to a higher standard than a random fan.

his skin. He's paid a ton of money, he practically has free reign to do whatever he wants over the entire football program, has incredible support from most of the fan base, AD, President, and BOT, and has more perks from being Clemson's head coach than Carter's got liver pills.
If a few jabs from upset fans or probing media questions are able to drive Dabo away from Clemson then he ain't the person he professes to be and we may be better off without him.

And he ain’t going anywhere. He thrives off the attention and the fact that he’s built the program up. He enjoys throwing it in our faces every chance he gets, and throwing out veiled threats to leave in order to keep the fans in line.

There are expectations to a job that pays 11 million a year. If he thinks fans at Bama, UGA, or OSU are different, then he is mistaken. The constant need to treat Swinney like he is a victim is very cultish.

You may be right. Dabo has earned the right to run this program his way. He has earned a right to some down seasons. However, this small war with fans (or a segment of the fan base) is just bad business and will not end well if he keeps it up, unless of course we go back to winning quickly at the elite level. That cures everything. Another down season or two, and more combativeness with fans, is simply not sustainable.
Anywhere you go in major college football there will be expectations and a “what have you done for me lately” segment of the fan base. The buttons Tyler pushed will be pushed by powerful Clemson donors if Dabo doesn’t right the ship in coming seasons. Ask Gene Chizik or Ed Orgeron if winning it all buys you multiple bad seasons, even in places like Auburn, LSU, and Clemson.
I hope you are wrong about Dabo leaving. I hope he knows most fans are willing to wait and give him time to turn things around. But if not life goes on. Jamey Chadwell would be a great hire. He could keep Wes and most of the defensive staff on and blow up and rebuild this offense that is scoring 19 points per game. Change is inevitable. I hope Dabo stays and rights the ship, but if he doesn’t it’s not the end of Clemson football. I love Dabo and CLEMSON’S accomplishments under his direction, and the culture he’s built. I hope he stays. But at the end of the day, my degrees say Clemson University. I like Dabo, but I am a Tiger fan. Someday post-Dabo the Tigers will still play football, and life will go on.

the difference being we fans can do nothing other than continue to support this team. CDS is in the thick of everything and will weed out the root of the problem because nothing is getting better, it actually appears to be getting worse.
With success comes expectations, maybe Dabo is not sure how to handle this criticism that comes with lofty expectations and falling off that lofty position. It is not easy, and he is having a hard time with it as we can all see. That situation with the caller was uncalled for from such a highly paid representative of Clemson, who has got to understand people are aggravated and a response will only bring more focus on him for acting so offended.

don't think so, then I don't know what to tell you. If you think Dabo being paid 11 Mil a year should buy us a Natty every year, then you don't understand how the whole salary thing works. By that definition, everyone not named Kirby Smart is a gross failure the last 2 + years now.
The reason everyone is so p!$$ed off an disappointed is that Dabo HAS been successful. And, there was every indication that this year was going to be a step back UP the ladder, not falling clean OFF the ladder. NOBODY feels the weight of that more than Dabo Swinney, I can assure you.
But, even the most jaded fan should be able to admit, this team has been the victim of more bad luck, and unfortunate timing, than probably the whole 16 years of teams before them put together. And, Snakebit is a real thing. We as fans now watch games pretty much EXPECTING the other shoe to drop, and when it does, it just adds to the frustration level.
Dabo always says that every season is a new team. We can only hope that this is true, and that next year's team will not be affected by the ghost of THIS team. Neither the near constant griping of the more vocal factions of the fanbase, nor Dabo's emotional response to that, does anything to help THIS team make it to the end of the year with any more confidence than the low level they have right now. All we as fans can REALLY do is continue to cheer on the team, hope for good results, see what happens, and hope that the horseshoe gets turned in OUR direction for a change. The "law of averages" says it has to swing our way soon. There IS too much talent on this team for the suck to last forever.

1. President-Admin must be on board
2. Fans must buy in (LITERALLY)
3. Coaches must buy in
Dabo brought all 3 together, but Dabo did not win a national title by himself. That type of bullcrap logic has to go.
