Loyalty

Oct 23, 2013, 8:22 PM

Just wanted to throw my two cents in. I, like many fans, was there Saturday and was hurting halfway through the fourth quarter. As the mass exodus began it just made me feel sad. Me and my son were still cheering on and my son asked why people were leaving, almost made me tear up. I just told him that they were just too sad to stay. We cheered till the last second went to zero. It was heart warming to see the few that still stayed and cheered as we did. We've got to take the good with the bad. If we don't want our players to quit, we can't quit on them. I know if we were winning 52 to 14, most everyone would probably still be in the stadium. Let's set a good example for the young and show good sportsmanship and cheer on our tigers till the end!!!!!! Go Tigers...NEVER EVER QUIT!!!!!!!!

From an old tiger (73) who stayed until the last second I too, felt the need to support our players. Losing a game is not such a big deal. A big deal is losing a good friend (a MSU fan) to the dreaded "C" illness. Our tigers are doing great and on track to win 10 or 11 games this season. Was not long ago we (most tiger fans) would be happy with winning 7-8 games. The sun came up on Sunday and I was happy. On to the next game. Go Tigers!!!!!

If she's a hollerer, she'll be a screamer.
If she's a screamer, she'll get you arrested.

It had more to do with late hour. I hate night games at CU.

I will be there, but when it is decided (W or L), I feel a lot of people will leave at night. If it was a 12 noon or 1 PM start, they would stay.....JMHO

Point for you KB ... you sound like a loyal good man

Teaching your son about loyalty is very important. Also teaching your son that football is not close to the most important thing is very important. Enough lecture. Best to you and your son K.B.

Well, i try. My sons are 6 and 9 and are now getting into sports. As a former football player i want my boys to understand that no matte what the score, play hard, have good sportsmanship and as always, never give up. Thanks for your kind words. GO TIGERS!!

I cheered when we put up 7 at the end ... but

someone else on here said that those who cheered were just mocking the team. You can't win around here.

Watching the mass exodus on tv was worse than the loss

But nobody who left seems to want to own up to their contribution to that lousy day. Thank you very much for doing the right thing.

I left.

Oct 24, 2013, 7:59 AM

Was in the 4th quarter after the 94 yard reception by Nick O'Leary. The whole game was disgusting. I cheered on every defensive snap until halfway through the third.

But it was getting late, my wife and I wanted to visit our friends, and the poor preparation and performance only served to make me sick - the reasons to leave outweighed those to stay. Besides, our cheering and support certainly didn't seem to help them...

I respect those that stayed as well as those that left. All in attendance paid for admission and many have paid great sums of money to support Clemson and not just from an athletic stand point. I left early in the 4th quarter as the game was not in doubt and I had a three hour ride ahead of me. Over the years, I have and will continue to support Clemson financially for many of their great programs, as has been the tradition of our family. The next time you are enjoying some of the great things Clemson has to offer, please know that some of them were provided by people that left early. To measure one's support of Clemson by whether they leave a game early is petty and reflective of a shallow thinker.

Re: Loyalty

Oct 24, 2013, 8:48 AM

My intention was not to offend those that did leave early. Obviously, there are all kinds of fans in a fan base. There are the fareweather fans, bandwagon fans and all sorts of loyal fans. There are those who leave early even when we are winning...I don't get that. Maybe cause i'm still relatively new to having season tickets and going to games, it just surprised me. I've watched Clemson games all my life on TV and yes i watched all the way till the end. Even that Virgina Tech game on my birthday one year when people were filing out at halftime cause we were just getting bashed in!! Growing up poor i never got to go to a Clemson game in person, but now that i can, i just enjoy every minute of it. Anyway, i just find it curious that if we were winning by 30 points, how many people would be in the stands then?? The last night game we played Fl State at home with CJ Spiller and Andre Ellington...I remember ESPN panning around the stadium near the end of the game...looked quite full to me. That's all, it's your right to leave and there are those with legitimate reasons, i'm just saying, no disrespect. GOOOOOO TIGERS!!!!!
