Tyshon Dye will be the starting RB soon

Kid is a monster and will bring back the power running game we've been missing.
As long as he can pass block he will get huge chunks of playing time.

If so that will mean that Hot Rod and Brooks and Howard have failed and I don't want that. These guys have put a lot into our program and I want nothing but great success for them this year. McDowell has always impressed me and I know he is anxious for the season to begin so he can show us his skill. I hope he gains 1000+ yards and stays healthy.

as much as i would like to see dye be the next cfb record holder in multiple categories, i still want to see hotrod have this year. lord knows he's put in his dues, even as highly touted as he was coming out of hs.

players we have are better, after already being at clemson for 2,3 years or so, than the kids that are just stepping foot on campus. either that, or the kids coming in are just once in a blue moon type players! are you telling me that you don't have certain guys on the team that you just pull for, ala a cj, or someone like that, like a "favorite player" or something ?

15 carries a game regardless of whose behind him. Thats because of his size. He wont hold up for 14 games carrying the ball 20-25 times. So whether or not he starts there is 25-35 more carries a game to spread around.

I don't think we really get 40-45 RB carries a game.

Boyd averaged 14 carries a game last season and AE averaged 17 a game both his JR and SR years (he missed 1 full game in each season).
I don't think 15 a game for Hot Rod is an unrealistic prediction, but i don't think we will get more than about ~30 total RB carries a game either.

I hope Dye will be the starting RB for the same reason James Davis came in his freshman year and took over for Reggie Merriweather: not because Merriweather wasn't a good RB, but because Davis was just so d*mn good. Merriweather also had a big role in our offense (will never forgive Tommy for not putting him in during Q4 against SC), but Davis was just a stud.
I'm hoping Dye can do the same since he's a big, powerful back with some speed, while Hot Rod is a speed back. I also want to see Howard do well because he's always been a rock for us too.
The thing about Chad's offense is it moves so quickly that there are always pieces moving around. There's certainly room for 3 backs in this offense.

Agree, All 3Rbs needs to be ready to play at all times. There's plenty of touches and plenty of room to shine within 100plays per game. Each back have their advantages, and more than likely will be used during various play calling. It should be and will be fun to watch Clemson's offense with these three backs different style of running. HOTROD(HomeRun), DJ Howard(Diesel), Dye(Playmaker). Keepon Fresh Coach!!! ONCE AGAIN "THERE'S ORANGE IN THE END ZONE" CAN'T WAIT.

Personally I would like to see Hot Rod with at least 1200 yards in the 12 games. That would likely mean 12 wins with our offensive receiving game.

Hot Rod is pretty darn good. Plus I heard he is up to around 200 lbs and is one of the strongest players pound for pound on the team. I think he will have a really good season this year.
Having said that, I also think Dye will be great. He is a back in the same mold as Todd Gurley - big, strong, and fast - and I think he will make an immediate impact.
Also, don't forget about Brooks. He was the number 1 player in Arkansas a few years back, and I think the big knock on him was that he was too light. You'd have to think that he has put on some weight by now, and if he has, look out.
I think we have a stable of capable backs this season, and I would imagine it will be more of a RB by committee with a rotation of Hot Rod, Dye, and Brooks.

Honestly, I would really like to see a RED shirt on Dye. IMO, we have enough at RB to get us through this season without wasting a year of Dye's eligibility. Just saying.

I really think Hot Rod is going to explode this year. For some reason I think he will easily have 1000yds.
I just watched the linked Dye highlight video and Wayne Gallman's YouTube highlight video back to back and I honestly think they are both an upgrade over Howard. No disrespect to him, he is a hard nosed runner, but with Dye and Gallman we seem to be getting two very versatile backs who are physically mature, run hard, have been used extensively as receivers out of the backfield, and have a little burst. Dye also has a little more shake than most seem to give him credit for.,I think we may get to see at least one if not both of these guys get some significant carries.
We know what we have in Howard. Brooks seems to be someone we can use as a specialist and move around the field and has been progressing well as has been reported from the spring and summer workouts. And these two young guys seem ready to come in and get some touches, so I feel a lot better about our RB situation than I did a few months ago. But I still think the true success of this group and to some extent the definition of the ceiling for this offense sits with how healthy Hot Rod stays and how much he is able to assert himself this season.

happen, thats not what I'm suggesting).
I honestly think its McDowell/Brooks this year with Dye emerging and then next year is Dye/Brooks and the year after you see guys from the 14 class emerge.
Howard will get touches but I just see the 1-2 the way I said. Brooks offers some unique abilities where I think he can essentially be a non-starting starter if that makes sense.

Tiger, I agree. Funny, but I commented on that exact video the other day; reminds me of Marcus Dupree.
Can't wait to see him in the end zone, time after time.

My hunch says zac brooks, but dye, gallaman are good too. McDowell will be tough to beat out in the spring but he will split more and more time as the season goes on

If this kid is used on the offensive side of the ball, he will be a Work Horse style of back. Hardnose runner whose reads the block and sees the holes very well. No wasted motion while carrying the ball. Will be a great addition to the backfield as well. I think he was recruited for his Linebacking skills.
