that tournaments blow, big time. At least in terms of true assessment for the NCAA and seeding. . Have you ever played three or four basketball games on consecutive days? Your legs and body turn to lead. I remember Georgia winning the SEC tourney as a low seed a few years back. Guess what happened to them in the first round of the NCAA tourney.

That win made there season. That's like clemson winning the ACC. Would you really care what we did after that? Also I'm not sure it matters for teams that play 2-3 games in a week every week. Louisville won the big east and the championship. Also didn't uconn also do that as a lower seed?

the Big East Tournament last year. Didn't they get bounced in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament or something last year?

The players love it. Ask the players or someone who has participated in a conference tournament at that level. The atmosphere and feel to a tournament is exciting. It provides new life and a chance for some whose season may not have gone so well.

that Clemson winning even one tournament game, even the one on Thursday, is cause for a mild celebration. Our ACC tourney appearances are often very, very brief. Rarely have we made it to Saturday, let alone Sunday. I think if we won the thing we would have a parade or something....

There are many stories about teams going deep in their conference tourney and getting bounced in the NCAA because...well there can only be one champion.
There are also lots of stories about teams winning their conference tournaments and winning the NCAA tournament. If you want to really discuss this, don't come at me with some weak Georgia team. I'm pretty sure that team had a blast in their SEC Tournament, regardless of what happened in the NCAA's.
