those of you harping on FSU allowing 34 pts.

Sep 6, 2016, 7:11 PM

watched a different FSU team than I did...

You can spin it how you want, but the 39-6 run after getting their frosh QB's feet under him and taking the initial punch from Freeze and co. was just as dominant as Alabama...

What does allowing 34 pts have to with scoring 45 pts you do understand that the freshman QB doesn't play defense correct?

There wasn't much impressive about FSU scoring those points. The OL was atrocious even though Ole Miss's DL was depleted to graduation and the NFL they got to the qb at will. Cook couldn't do anything on the ground and had to do it in the passing game. Not hard to look good at qb when a guy can run a 25 yard route and still have ten yards of cushion. The cushion was insane. It was just pitch and catch. The Ole Miss lb also never once picked up the TE when he ran a route. He was wide open every time. Ole Miss also turned it over 4 or 5 times giving the Noles great field position. Ole Miss's OL like FSU's was horrific. They had a former C/G playing tackle who wasn't any good as a center or a guard. We're going to destroy FSU's (and Louisville's) offensive line. It'll get ugly quick and we actually have db and safety play so Francois won't have those easy wide open pitch and catch passes when 10+ yards of cushion.

Same thing with the media slobbing on that Bama qb. USC left the Bama receivers completely uncovered when he actually completed a pass. He only threw for 145 yards to wide open receivers. Sorry but gotta do more than that to impress me.

If the correct call was made on Williams's non-fumble they ruled a fumble we would have routed Auburn. That turned all the momentum after we had gotten control of it. Such bs as the guy was clearly out of bounds when he swiped the ball. Don't know what the replay guys were thinking there.

I am amazed that you are trying to discredit their 45 points

Sep 6, 2016, 7:36 PM

They just scored 45 against a top 15 SEC team. Whether or not Ole Miss is truly a top 15 team is up for debate, but dropping 45 is still impressive.

Soulja you are spot on. I thought the exact same thing about their passing game. Don't get me wrong Francois is athletic and has a great arm but he only made 1-2 throws when he got hit upon release that I was impressed with. A decent high school QB could have completed most of this passes with all that cushion. I am not kidding.

Also he had some great runs due to Ole Miss doing an awful job of setting the edge.

Francois made very very few if any completions when the receivers were covered ( they weren't covered much)

Also kicker made 6 field goals. Impressive feat there.

I think Francois will be a really good and maybe overrated quarterback due to the fact he will be playing teams giving him 10 yards of cushion in 80 percent of the games he plays in.

If Clemson doesn't beat Clemson we will both lines of scrimmage and win in Tallahassee

Just like everyone said there was nothing impressive

Sep 6, 2016, 8:56 PM [ in reply to Re: those of you harping on FSU allowing 34 pts. ]

about Winston going 25-27 for 356 against Pitt in his debut a few years ago.

This is what i saw from FSU...

-Their OL struggled for a good portion of the game. They haven't had a great OL since 2013 and i think this line will be pretty average too, but Ole Miss has a very good front that would give a lot of teams problems. OL is FSU's biggest weakness though.

-They had numerous coverage busts in the secondary in the first half that gave Ole Miss some huge plays in the passing game. You can hang your hat on this if you want, but i would be willing to bet we won't see many of those come late October when we play them. It's not like coverage busts are something i typically associate with an FSU defense. You can bet they will get a lot of that cleaned up.

-Their freshman QB is a stud and Jimbo is one of the best in CFB at making adjustments at halftime to get his QBs on track. They are loaded on offense everywhere except the OL which is pretty average as i mentioned above.

-Their front 7 is right up there with some of the better units in the country.

-New Aguayo looks just like old Aguayo.

They aren't perfect, but assuming they get their secondary miscues cleaned up they are one of the 3 best teams in the country right now. They are going to be really tough to beat down in Tally.

dude stop it. FSU is dang good and it will take a great game

Sep 6, 2016, 10:04 PM [ in reply to Re: those of you harping on FSU allowing 34 pts. ]

By us to beat them at their place probably at night. The bright side is, we are good enough to do it. But trying to act like FSU is not up to the task is irrational. It's what it's all about, beating other great teams.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Are you sure? Heard a team used a true FR DT on offense.. crazy

Yeah the only difference is that Alabama was dominant on both offense and defense whereas Florida State played a great half of offensive football against a gassed defense and talent depleted secondary because Kelly kept turning the ball over.

Sep 6, 2016, 7:31 PM

If Swaggy didn't play like shaggy the outcome would of been different. I'm happy FSU loss but to say they dominated the game or looked like a great team is delusional. They played a great half of football after playing a horrible half of football which makes them inconsistent at best.

Allowing 30+ points in the very first game tells you that your defense

Sep 6, 2016, 7:30 PM

can be scored on...and that will be a problem down the line.

I was too worried about their "invincible" defense that we heard all off season.

First games do not usually predict how a team will perform. We are a lot better than our Auburn game. FSU is a lot better than their Ole Miss. game.

This board sounds EXACTLY as it did in 2013 before FSU made a trip to Death Valley with another freshman QB. Hope the result isn't the same. FSU is d@mn good, we will have our hands more than full in Tallahassee.

The game will be close, very close. While I hope all the optimists on here who predict we easily handle FSU will be correct, the realist in me say the game can easily go either way. we are starting the game off 10 points in the hole by playing in their insanely loud stadium.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree with you Snowtown

Sep 6, 2016, 7:56 PM

FSU will be a very very tough out. But for now:

I agree with you BUT, the one thing I couldn't help but notice was how much punishment Francois took. If an 18 year old is hobbling around by the end of the game, you know it hurts.

That being said, FSU & Francois looked amazing last night (in the second half).

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

FSU's FG kicker is a big weapon. Difference in our game?***
