Dabo is getting torn apart. Our school is getting torn apart for Nuks bs answer of why he doesn’t say Clemson. We are seeing an assault. At this moment is the first time I’ve been worried what might happen

How do you think Nuk should feel about attending classes in a building named after one of the most famous white supremecist in SCs history? There’s nothing BS about him explaining why he doesn’t say Clemson in his intro, he’s just being honest.
I, for one, would like Deshaun and Nuk to be proud of the school they graduated and I won’t waste any breath clutching pearls over the name of a brick building. Whether it’s called Old Main or Tillman, Clemson University is still a special place. And honstely what does it cost to change the name of the building... Nothing! And what is the benefit, goodwill, love and appreciation from hundreds of former and future students. It’s time to stop being defensive and be realistic.

I’m glad someone else here has some sense. I’m getting frustrated with watching people whose post I’ve enjoyed reading for years show such bad judgement to. But that’s just my opinion and everyone has a right to their own.
One thing I’m confident in is Dabos love for his players and CU will shine through and whether it’s publicly or behind closed doors, Dabo will help make change at Clemson.
One last thing, the idea that changing the name of a building somehow rewrites history really irks me. You can read all about the positives and negatives of Tillman without having to honor him with the most prominent building on campus. Doesn’t erase or rewrite history at all, it acknowledges history and begins a new legacy.

Dabo, for one. And most on this board when he torched LSU with what ended up being the game that marked the return of Clemson as a national powerhouse. You folks on this board turn on people in a heartbeat. I don’t even understand what people are defending on here. Regardless of Nuks personal beliefs, he’s still right about this. Broken clock and all that.
If he was wrong do you think Deshaun would also be supporting him. Just wait, Dabo will come out and support it soon and the deal will be done and then the larger task of renaming Tillman will be next.

Suggesting Nuk actually attended classes in these buildings or knew anything about the history of the names on the buildings while a student is laughable.

1) To suggest this is race baiting, suggests you think my comment had anything to do with race. It didn’t. It was about football players as a whole, and their lack of genuine perspective as a student at Clemson.
2) I’m shocked you actually believe football players have a normal college experience and you don’t think the football players live an enchanted, fantasy land experience at Clemson. Also, based on his major, the years he attended and the fact he wasn’t an honors student, he would have had 0 classes or assemblies in either of the buildings listed. I’m also not sure he’s actually a graduate of Clemson although I could be wrong.

there are a LOT of white folks on this board who follow a very classic approach to race relations: if you are black, you are allowed to be an entertainer, a musician, an athlete. If you keep your mouth shut, everything is fine. If you dare actually express the fact that there are some serious issues at work, you are uppity, and that is not tolerated.

Watson is entitled to his opinions, but Nuk is toxic

We have all heard many of the crazy "theories" of Nuk and how he has caused some internal issues while at Clemson & the NFL. However, DeShaun has been a model ambassador for Clemson and should maybe take his stand independent of Hopkins from a PR perspective. Sometimes 'guilty by association' is just as damaging to ones reputation.

two announcers that I heard this morning that stood by their previous criticism were Jaylin Rose and Jay Williams. Finebaum reversed his and all others I have heard felt like Dabo addressed as expected.
As for Watson and Hopkins, they are not trashing the program or saying they had a bad time in the program. They are making a reasonable request about asking people to sign a petition to better thier university.
That name was only applied in 1981. It is not some one hundred year old tradition.

I'm sure I'll get torn a new one by the regulars on this site for the following post but...here goes.
I'm an alum from '96 and fierce Clemson Tiger fan and lover of all things Clemson. The campus, the beauty, the people, the education offered, the sense of "apartness" that differs us from other ACC schools and especially that other school in Columbia.
However, the time has come to remove and/or rename Tillman and his association with our university. While I accept he was an accomplished man in many aspects of his life, his rabid racism and violent acts towards black people and white people who stood in his way cannot be white washed. In fact, it's no longer acceptable to even place "historic context" markers around the university so as not to erase the past but understand it. Those days are over. Clemson University needs to fully and completely rid itself of all vestiges of Tillman.
Before you all keyboard warrior me...just think and ask yourselves. Do you want your beloved university to be associated in any way with a man who lynched black people? Furthermore, write your state reps and let's change the heritage act so we can also take down Confederate Monuments, change streets and school names away from Confederate fighters and get rid of Confederate Memorial Day.
I am not Antifa. I am not a PC social justice warrior. I am a Clemson grad and know it's time to do the right thing. If we don't....if we hold on to the past (for what reason I don't know) it will hurt our beloved institution every day we don't fix this.

Fugg out of that. You and I are about the same age and I can’t believe the number of folks our age that don’t care enough to speak. The “doesn’t affect me” , don’t care attitude is sickening.

Buildings being renamed is a pretty trivial thing to be afraid of. There are much worse fears in the world... much, much worse.

Clemson will be fine. Dabo will be fine. Those blithering idiot talking heads are the ones that have layoffs and budget cuts every time you turn around. Let them flail around trying to find some reason for people to tune in, but don't support it.

I do hope Dabo supports the building name changes and that will take a lot of heat off of him and it is the right thing to do, but I do not believe he has done anything wrong. I do think changing those names is something positive. However, I think he needs to make a major stance like that to get any credit for promoting change.
