Orange Bowl, while Bradsketball missed the NCAA again, got run out of the NIT game one, yet scored over 70% of NIL deals $10K + while football only posted a 47% mark there?

Are my maffs failing me?

No but reasoning appears to be an issue

Here is what I just don't agree with, wages and salaries are nobody's business. Let's say you own a business and have 50 employees and those employees are both men and women, have different skills and perform different jobs. Those 50 employees are paid different wages and the last thing you want is for people working side by side finding out what the other person makes. Why should NIL numbers be any different?

If you look at these numbers and at the A&M numbers they seem more reasonable than what you see on social media coming from players.

Even with money from outside the collectives tripling these amounts it’s hard to get to $500k to $1M per player for multiple players per team.

I wonder if some players at A&M (and other schools) are believing the hype and jumping expecting mega deals that are just imaginary.

Laughable. If you don't think MOST employees talk about what they are getting paid you are out of touch with your workers.

Secondly, these aren't employees....yet.

First, just like everything else there is a right way and a wrong way to do things…. I actually like what I read in the article, about teaching the student athletes about business, managing money, and how to use NIL “TO HELP OTHER PEOPLE”….. so instead of just payin to play, they are thinking about how to have greater impact as a person through this as well….

The money schools like Texas and A&M have and are giving out, well it hasn’t had an impact yet, money without good culture is bad thing….

I would like to see better and more consistent rules and reporting, make them answer for themselves….. transparency helps to drive fairness…. If everyone on the team is getting $50K, but the next top QB recruit who has never played gets $200k, that would create an issue… it’s almost self policing or controlling…

Also why not put a cap on it by sport and in total.

Without the proper controls, this will just turn into the haves and have nots even more…. I would think eventually these kids will just be looking fo the highest bidder…..

A cap needs to be put in place asap to ensure a level playing field and integrity in the amounts paid.

You can't legally put a cap on NIL. If the players formed a union and collectively bargained a cap, you can have a cap. If not, no cap.

My rough maff says that Texas paid $6.75M for FB in a year and Clemson paid $1.8M. So $4.95M buys the difference between 20th and Top 4-5!

to the other $1.55 million. Are the trustees of the fund allowed to pay themselves? If so, I think there should be a requirement to disclose the management fee structure - like a stock fund - so "investor/donors can see whaere their money goes.

If that $1.55 million went to the NIL trustees, I think I'll start another NIL collective... :)

Making 30-40,000 per year is not a bad deal, especially if he’s on a free ride. Thanks for sharing
