So the term "buckeye" had its origins in ethnic profiling

The term “buckeye” originated from indigenous peoples noticing that European immigrants coming into Ohio had larger eyes, similar to those of the male (buck) deer. The settlers, therefore, were called buckeyes.
So...it's not just some nut/seed from a tree in Ohio.
A campaign should be launched and petition generated immediately to change to the name to something less offensive.
A few suggestions:
1 - Crybabies
2 - Yuengling guzzlers
3 - Goetta Eaters
4 - Doo Dah's
5 - Thurmanators (some nasty sandwich they eat)
6 - Cuyahogas

Settlers were white so it’s not of concern to anyone including whites. Good luck with this campaign

I said "ethnic" profiling as in a group that has a common national or cultural tradition.

Biggie you know the little children (lefties) are easily triggered and confused by real thoughts and facts.
Note to TNET:
We are ALL liberals if we believe in freedom, democracy, and civil liberties. Liberal and conservative in America are misused. Totalitarianism, authoritarianism, communism, socialism, theism, imperialism, etc. are actually "conservative" political ideologies. Capitalism, democracy, freedom, etc. are "liberal" ideologies, which is why libertarians are "classical liberals".
The correct term for liberals in America, besides the obvious (nuts, crazy, brainwashed, etc.) is "lefties". But I'm perfectly comfortable with "pinko commie ..."

Not OSU fans. Well, yes, we have those too, but we have the Red Buckeye (Aesculus pavia) in South Carolina. My grandfather's farm in Orangeburg county has some growing on it. The red buckeye is indigenous to SC.

In the mountain regions on the state. I found lots of great buckeye nuts this past fall at Station Cove Falls. Big shout out to Clemson Dendrology 101 and Dr. Vic Shelbourne.

Due to their shortened schedule I've decided to call them "Halflings."

What's wrong with Yuengling?
Fat Tire, Yuengling, & Red Stripe are the Holy Trinity in my ice chest when dropping the boat in the water. And of course plenty of PBR. Rolling Rock was a go to years ago.

Yeah...keep Yuengling out of this!! It isn't an Ohio thing. Originated in Pottsville, PA. Far from OH in the eastern half of the state.

They were probably in shock to see grown men wearing fluffy frills around the neck and stockings with a fluffed puffy tutu short cut onsies.

the buckeye is a nut indigenous to the Ohio region, and was named because someone thought it resembled the eye of a deer. Seriously, maybe spend less time on stormfront and your attempts at humor will improve.

Clearly you missed the rest of it about the settlers and clearly you don’t get a little sarcasm and humor! Maybe you should lighten up Francis!

what a crappy thing to say, go ahead and give the OSU fans grief, they are homers. Just like Clemson fans are homers. But this is just wrong, an entire post about names we can call people from Ohio... if your going to tell a story at least tell it accurately... look up "hetuck", has nothing to do with the people. I shake my head at the hubris on this site sometimes...

You misspelled HUMOR!
It’s not hubris but humor and if you think it is bad here go over to some of the Ohio State message boards and see what those people are saying about Clemson and South Carolina despite the fact that Ohio is losing more people every year than are moving there and tons of them and moving to South Carolina! Get on YouTube and go to their lettermen row Channel which is bigger than anything Clemson has. Bigger than pretty much all of the Clemson board and online publications put together and see what those guys are supposed to be professionals are saying about Dabo and Clemson and Clemson fans and South Carolina!
