How does it work? You just get it on a computer and you can watch anything you subscribe to?

You can get most of the popular cable channels - AMC, TBS, TNT, ESPN, ESPN2, Food, HGTV, History channel, etc. The only noticeably missing ones are Comedy Central and MTV. Not sure what Viacom's deal is.
But then there's a la carte "packages" you can add on -- i.e. "Sports Extras", "Movie Extras" etc.
You can use Sling on pretty much any device --- not just a Slingbox. I have it for XB1 and stream from my laptop.

Check Sling's streaming lineup. It hits the majors and $5 extra gets the sports, plus access to all ESPN3 content via your Sling account. $25/mo vs. the $150/mo I was paying with cable. Downside is no recording. Super fast internet is a plus, which we had anyway.
The Roku device (it was free when I signed up and paid 3 mos. in advance) also sports the WatchESPN app, plus all the major streaming services.
Definitely worth it so far.

I prepaid for 3 months @ $20 per month and got the new Roku3 at a discounted price of only $50. My Roku was just delivered to me at work today. The last couple days I streamed through my Iphone (make sure you use WIFI for this), and didn't have a single problem. Of course you have to have the proper WiFi service from your provider. Here's the link:

Use it in conjunction with ESPN app and you will never miss a game. Most won't show up in the SlingTV app itself, but you can go to the ESPN app live stream, type your SlingTV info in for access, and it gives you access to channels you can't see in SlingTV.

^THIS^ - Sony Playstation Vue

was better for me. 55 channels for $30.00/mo with PS Vue vs 20 channels for $20.00/mo with Sling. 5 simultaneous streams with PS Vue vs. only 1 stream at a time with Sling. Cloud DVR w/PS Vue (Record, save for 28 days, pause, rewind) vs. none with Sling.
Those things sold me on Play Station Vue over Sling. There are other differences that may result in a different decision for you. Check out the comparison here: http://www.cnet.com/news/playstation-vue-vs-sling-tv-streaming-live-tv-compared/
I bought an Amazon Fire TV streaming device and signed up for Vue, and have been very pleased.

Great info! Thanks! I have been using Sling and it is great. I am considering changing over to Vue for the ability to stream to more than one device.

It is worth it...but, if you have a FireTV, or PS3/PS4 device you may want to look at PSVue. It allows for multiple devices, SlingTV does not with most of its programming packages. It is like anything else, there is good and bad with it. But it is a good value.

I've had Sling from the beginning after cutting the cord three years ago. Love it, have Roku in the den and Fire Stick in the kitchen. Watched games last year streamed to the big TV or on my IPad. The main thing is not being able to record the games unless it is on over the air channels (got over 12 good channels, 28 overall) within hours most games are on UTube anyway. Somewhat cheaper than Vue.

I tried it for tailgating and gave up. Can't get network channels such as ABC and ESPN was blacked out for the games on regional TV.

from Radio Shack. Works like a charm for all broadcast, plus the on-air broadcasts from affiliates offers 2-3 additional channels per network - MeTV, Grit, bounce, Retro, etc. Provided you have a power supply you should be able to pick up broadcast TV on the road that way, and it's a one-time cost.

The only major drawback is you can only view on one device at a time, so if the wife is watching in the bedroom, I can't watch on the big screen in the den...
But then I just go kick her off
