Looks like this pissing contest between Disney and Charter

Sep 3, 2023, 11:04 AM

will continue for a while. Meanwhile, as usual, the fan gets screwed. Since I have Spectrum through our condo in Florida, we will need another app. The least expensive appears to be Sling @ $40 a month. Has anybody got an opinion on Sling?

Yep that is the vicious cycle we as fans have created. We want more money for our teams but don’t want to pay higher television cost. Cannot have it both ways unfortunately.

At the end of the day Spectrum will be fine as long as they sell you their broadband. The Catv portion is not where Spectrum is making their money.

I don't see why they don't just dump the TV side entirely.

I, as a fan, simply want to watch sports. I legitimately don’t need cable for anything else in my television package. This is always framed as sports fans, wanting others to pay for our sports packages. The truth is that only about 15% of what I pay for cable is going to ESPN/Disney when in reality they should be getting it about 60% of it.

Dropped spectrum this morning and went with hulu live. Kind of pricey at $100 got sports package for redzone channel. I was on hold for almost an hour with them. I'm obviously not the only one dropping them

Signed up for You Tube Friday. It’s working great. Might not go back. Spectrum is the real loser because there will be others like me who would have never explored this option.

Spectrum knew it was coming and didn't warn their customers

Both are at fault.

I would argue Disney is more at fault. That’s not my point. Point is they can afford to play hardball. Spectrum can’t. Viewers like me will get their content. I discovered You Tube for over $100 months in savings and probably won’t go back to Spectrum.

Disney to temp customers to ditch Spectrum and sign up for HULU+ .?

Re: Sling

I had YouTubeTV for a while. Great app and service, but it went from $49/month to almost $75/month over the past couple of years with no end in sight. I cancelled it after the Masters.

I just added SlingTV's Season Pass for $274 for 5 months prepaid to carry me though the CFB season. That's Orange + Blue + Sports Extra. Will probably downgrade it to Orange or cancel after that.

They also have a 5 month prepaid deal for Orange + Sports Extra for $199. I didn't see that option and would have probably chosen that one if I had.

Go Tigers!

Same thing last year with Sling. I got Hulu live because Disney owns Hulu. Hoping that fixes it.
