Shane Beamer wants to build the "premier culture" in all of

college football. Hmmmmm ... before Dabo Swinney, NOBODY talked about culture, now EVERYBODY talks about it; coaches, players, recruits, commentators, and journalists. If Dabo never wins another game, he's changed the landscape and had more impact than anybody currently coaching.

Yup, before Dabo's "culture," it was Saban's "process" that everyone was talking about.

He has a lot of work to do to change that culture in Cootville. Most horrid fans in college sports.

Yeah that's right. Actually, the word "culture" had been a buzzword of sorts for some time in the college football world - but it was used more nebulously and was more of a synonym for a "winning attitude" or "winning culture." It had something more to do with attitude, perspective, confidence, swagger, etc. But Dabo elevated that to something broader and deeper. Now the word gets used in a more wholistic way, to refer to everything in a program from the rooftop down to the basement, and into all the corners.
The problem at SC is that the culture of the fanbase and thus many of it's supporters is that it's less family-like, - less cohesive - more like a professional team in a larger city. People wear the logo and take pride when winning, but it's not always quite so tight-knit. I don't think it's impossible for Beamer to *improve* the culture, but there is probably an upper limit to it in a place like Columbia and with a fanbase like theirs.

I’m guessing we’ll also be seeing a cock-stone(don’t think about it) and a random Metallica song as well.

A new tradition where gamecocks have to give 111% before they can rub le coq.

...in the middle of Live PD Hip Hop Thugville?
I mean, the culture of that city lures a certain type of person, and it AIN'T what you want on your football team.

LOL Good luck with that. Culture has always been the problem in Cootville, and I'm not speaking to the athletic programs.

has successfully done it outside Dabo? There is none. They all give lip service to it but when the rubber meets the road none can do it nor have the ability to do it when God throws curve balls their way. Dabo is able to succeed because he places his faith in the Lord and that guides him in the decisions he makes. There is no other program like Clemson and certainly no coach like Dabo.

And before every college football program had a "Family" they all had a "Nation".
Most coaches simply lather, rinse and repeat what they see have success elsewhere. Good luck replicating the culture formula.

You make a great point, and it sure doesn't stop programs from hiring guys copying his M.O.
You'll never "be the man" by imitating him.

Part of our American sports "culture" in general, is that we

keep trying to copycat unique things. We need to realize, unique means "one of a kind", and do our own thing, not try to imitate someone else's. There will be more and more Dabo Wannabes sprouting up, and that will be good for college football. But, never discount the original.

The only place where you will find any culture in Cootville is in a science lab. Wonder if Shane is going to teach Biology 101 to the incoming recruiting class.
