SEC expansion argument into new states

The debate about whether the SEC would want to take us or a team from NC is kinda silly. From what I have seen on demographics on TV viewership, Clemson IS the most watched team in the state of North Carolina. I am 100% sure of that from Charlotte westward. Now going east from there it is a hodgepodge with five Div1 schools splitting the share.
So , if it is truly about TV viewership and expanding the football footprint, looks like Clemson would be it for NC.

Yeah the whole argument about moving into new states seems based on an old paradigm of TV. It’s now about viewership and not regional TV.

Cable is going away quickly because they kept pushing to get every dime they could and streamlined nothing for so long!

Don’t let anyone fool you. It’s about eyeballs. Fact is Clemson, FSU, ND, and Oregon are the biggest fish left. I put UNC and Washington in the next tier. No one really knows and it’s all talk and speculation at this point. No way anyone at SEC, B1G, or anyone at these schools is going to leak information about what they are really doing. We will be in the B1G or SEC by 2028. You can take that to the bank.

Agreed. It’s going to be SEC vs BIG with different TV networks supporting each. It’s a matter of which one wants Clemson. Culturally the SEC makes sense but I think the BIG has more to gain by adding a few southern teams.

SEC fans don’t want Clemson because we hand them their ### on the regular

they would rather get a soft program

For the SEC, it's now about the end game. Their end game would be the control of CFB in the long term. They have plenty of viewers already and also have the most top tier teams meaning those who could and have won championships in the past 30 years. The things they don't have are scope and academic prestige (other than Vandy). Said differently they have a group of middling academic schools grouped together in one region. The BIG has a bunch of great academic schools from coast to coast but have few schools who can compete for a national championship and have actually won something in the last 30 years. For these reasons I think Clemson would be more valuable to the BIG than to the SEC but UVA and UNC might be more valuable to the SEC than to the BIG. Its not about which schools fit in with what they already have, its about which schools can add value to their conference.

Of course, this is only my opinion, we will see if it is correct based on which schools are added by each conference.
