You've never interviewed for another job despite being on the 3rd or 4th round interview for a different position?
ETN showed interest in other schools while waiting for the one he really wanted. You're saying he shouldn't have gave the other schools the time of day while waiting on the Clemson offer? What if we would have gotten a target higher on the board and it never came? ETN would have been SOL b/c he didn't explore his options.

Sadly, with the current transfer rules, there is no true

commitment on the part of athletes. When you can just pull up stakes at any time, and leave for greener pastures (or increasingly, for the highest bidder) with no wait time, no restrictions that matter, "commitment" is a thing of the past.
Another poster suggested that we return to the practice of having to sit out a year if you transfer. I think that would be a good thing, as it would give Universities at least a LITTLE more of a protection of the investment they have made in individual players.
I would like to see the following changes:
1) When an athlete commits to a school, the NCAA allows the completion of the paperwork for scholarships, enrollment and such, all RIGHT THEN. And, when a player signs those papers on the dotted line, he is bound to THAT college for two years. The only exception being that the player is released from that obligation if the Head Coach leaves, or is fired. Period. Any exceptions would have to be adjudicated on individual merit.
College football is now, finally starting to be treated like the Big Business it is. Businesses have "non-Disclosure, and Non-Compete" clauses written into contracts every day. Universities should be able to do the same with their player "employees." Coaching staffs build a "brand", and the rules in play should allow them some leeway to protect that "brand" by keeping players from just jumping ship arbitrarily.
The current situation in college athletics is unsustainable. With the schools with Deep Pocketed Boosters literally buying the best players now, any semblance of the "level playing field" that the NCAA has trumpeted all these years is gone. Year by year now, the stark division between the Haves and the Have Nots will increase. And, from that perspective, Clemson is going to be left on the outside looking in.

mighty authoritarian ruling you got there.
There are a million reason why that is a crap reason. What if the coach leaves? What if your mom gets sick so you dont want to be far from home? What if the kid gets in a horrific crash and is unable to play football anymore - now the school is stuck with that scholarship?
You are wanting to treat athletes like indentured servants. A scholarship Chemistry student isn't subject to these demands - neither should a scholarship athlete.

Schools invest a lot more into athletic scholarships than

academic ones. Your Chemistry major got a scholarship based on grades, and will have to maintain those grades to keep it. On their own. The athlete got his scholarship based on athletic ability. But, once he gets to college not only is he coached to help him maximize that athletic ability, he is pampered, and tutored to pretty much INSURE that he keeps his grades up to be academically eligible, if he is motivated at all.
Now, with all that extra investment, the college SHOULD be able to expect something from an athlete above and beyond your chemistry major. That something is athletic performance on the field. THEIR field.

Yes it just needs to say “verbal”
Quite frankly all this crap going on with college football it’s really starting to concern me. When a sport becomes just about the money, it’s really not much fun anymore as a fan
