Roster Mash Up: Offense
Jul 1, 2013, 10:43 AM

To continue with the offensive theme of the day here's a little game I like to play. Roster mash-up.
Take the upcoming rosters for UGA and Clemson, and create your starting line-up.
Whatcha got?

The offensive line players could go either way. But as for the other spots, I'd be crazy to not want Georgias running backs. I like everything else we have. Maybe a TE if one of ours doesn't step up, but otherwise the rest Clemson.

Give us Gurley. He's an elite talent. Keep the rest.

Here's the core group I'd go with.
QB Murray
RB Gurley
RB Marshall
WR Watkins
WR Mitchell
WR Bennett
TE Lynch
LT Thomas
LG Gates
C Andrews
RG Burnett
RT Theus

You lose all credibility by taking Murray over Boyd.

AM is one-dimensional and can't handle pressure. Tajh is way more versatile.

Murray is a much more polished pocket passer.

So, a ball-control, run-oriented offense is the best compliment IMO.

Silly to not even consider guys like Mitchell, Andrews, Burnett, and Lynch. They'd all be starters at Clemson.

there's more to it than how many stars he came in with.

you might be right about Lynch...

because Clemson really doesn't have any proven talent at TE. On the other hand, like some others have said, I don't think there are a lot of obvious trades on the OL. Clemson is really happy with who they've got.
I do have a hard time believing that Mitchell would start over Bryant, other than maybe because he's got more experience.

Clemson's guys on the OL are just as good as UGa's, probably with the exception of Theus. I'd probably take Rome and Lynch over any of the TE's we have available, but I don't know a ton about them. Clearly I'd take our WRs over theirs, and I would take Boyd's mobility over Murray.

Just a few from UGA

QB: Tajh. Murray's good; Tajh is more versatile, plus our WRs match Tajh better than Murray's match him. RB: 1-Gurley, 2-Hot Rod. Respect to Gurley, but hopefully UGA will respect Hot Rod when it's all said and done. WR: All Clemson (I'd take King with them but he's gone) TE: Leggett and Seckinger. UGA's are nothing to write home about. O-Line: All Clemson. Even at C; theirs are midgets lol.
