Not another “Fire Brownell” post

I believe the commitment, effort and culture is in place. I believe these young men give their all, play with pride and represent our university well. That being said, we are facing a similar position that other programs that try to compete with dynasty programs, like Duke, UNC and Kansas. We are not swimming in the deep end of the recruiting pool, we are also not using third parties to deliver the very best recruits to our program. The NCAA can, in their omnipotence, choose to pick the rules they wish to impose on most and the sheer arrogance to permit others to do as they wish. So, I’m proud to say this team, this program may not be able to compete with the “Big Boys” on the court but win or lose, we have integrity and that, in the final analysis is what really matters. Go Tigers!

I like our recruiting class next year too. We were a Sweet 16 team last year. I don't know why there is so much doom and gloom.

Agree. There have been a few disappoints with players on this team. Brownell can't make players sign. He can only work to do the best with what he has.

I think he is great at bridging the gap. Kind of like how Tommy Bowden did.

You can see them playing fast overall. Years ago our guys did not have a fluid speed on offense. From where we ran our offense through 1 player (McDaniels/Rivers) until the last 3 years. Those moves (DRad to CBB talk, which BB said he had answers) showed up last year and are looking strong under this group of older guys, who were part of that transformation, leading the way.
Skara knocks down the 3!
Next year will be critical, imo.

I think the year after next will be a good year once those quality freshman get a year under their belt. I see next year as taking a step back.

Sucks because everyone will complain. It will be interesting to see how that transfer plays who had to sit out this year. I read an article on him that said he has NBA talent. Losing Eli will be the biggest hit though. Hard to replace that.

Duke has, I imagine, as many McDonald's All Americans in its starting five as we've had in our program's existence. I don't look for miracles when we match up.

I am loath to start going broke chasing shiny new coaches. Brownell has done a fine job of putting a competitive team on the court. We have learned over the past few years that men’s basketball is absolutely filthy and if we have a coach that competes and doesn’t get in the mud, I am very happy. Maybe the NCAA will be able to clean it up over the next few years and then I would be more interested in discussing a more aggressive approach, but not in the current environment.

We don't deserve to be on the same court with Duke . .especially this year. So not going to get upset with getting blown out at Duke. But if we don't beat some of the teams we should beat, that's a different story. I know recruiting is difficult for us, but we must start getting some scorers.
