We shouldn't be victims of his "imagination".
From Science Daily:
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can cause illnesses ranging widely in severity. The first known severe illness caused by a coronavirus emerged with the 2003 Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) epidemic in China. A second outbreak of severe illness began in 2012 in Saudi Arabia with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).

Not being personal, especially about your friend or anyone who has fallen victim to this pandemic. My point is that our leaders should have an "imagination" that includes and prepares for this and future health disasters.

Some? I told a couple of people today, the older I get the more I realize that a good portion of us could do these people’s jobs.
What a bunch of buffoons we have running this country. Both sides.
And my goodness we have another hold your nose and vote campaign in front of us.
In case you have not noticed, the new bill is incenting those that are on a temporary layoff to not come back to work until August as “we the people” are paying them more to sit at home than they would make to work. Way more in many cases. And Trump signed this! I admittedly lean right fiscally and consider myself more of a Libertarian in general. But he lost me by signing this. Make people close to whole by granting 80 to 90 percent on the benefits. Otherwise just have employers keep them fully employed and send you the their payroll. This is really unfair tor those that are working to be honest. I will vote for Dabo with a write in this year.
I would like to pass a bill that all lawmakers take and economics course and a course on how to balance a checkbook.

Actually, funny you mention that. There is a literal color-coded "pandemic playbook" that was created by the National Security Council. And was summarily ignored by the administration in favor of downplaying the threat for a critical month (no, blocking travel from China wasn't enough). https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/25/trump-coronavirus-national-security-council-149285
The previous administration literally had a pandemic exercise in January before Trump's inauguration in 2017. They KNEW something like this was not just possible, but likely. https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/488069-obama-officials-walked-trump-aides-through-global-pandemic-exercise-in-2017 This was also ignored.
Our leaders not only "should have" known, but DID know. And they let us down. And these are just 2 of the many mis-steps both since SARS-COV-2 and since the administration took over in 2017.
I know most of the members on this board are Republican, but just remember that if ANY OTHER REPUBLICAN was in charge right now, we'd be better off than with a narcissistic sociopath in charge. Any idiot that takes time to consider his television ratings in the middle of a pandemic crisis doesn't deserve to be in charge during said pandemic crisis.
Stay inside, stay safe, and go Tigers!

Ugh, that is such a lazy response. At the time, Fox News’ criticism was that Obama was being too responsive and making a bigger deal of H1N1 than it was in order to plug Obamacare. If they could have pushed the narrative that it was a botched response they would have.
Our government structure has a fatal flaw in that half of the people we pay to do the job want to see the other half do poorly. Our two party system has too much inherent friction to function optimally.
Personally, I would love to see what happens if we break this binary dynamic with a 3rd part candidate. Pretty slim pickings in that candidate pool and some states make it pretty much impossible to even get on the ballot.
In closing, Kirby Smart is a pud.

Since you want to play the blame game...

I've got a few articles for you to read as well.
https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/coronavirus/pandemic-neglect-how-us-health-care-failed-heed-warnings-supply
Pandemic of Neglect: How U.S. health care failed to heed repeated warnings of supply shortages More than a dozen government reports dating to the 1990s warned of the sort of medical supply shortages now being experienced in the coronavirus pandemic. https://pjmedia.com/trending/its-barack-obama-fault-theres-a-shortage-of-n95-respirator-masks-heres-why/
It’s Barack Obama's Fault There’s a Shortage of N95 Respirator Masks Last week Bloomberg published a story about the mask shortages and how that was making it difficult for hospital workers in various states to take alternative measures to help protect themselves during the coronavirus pandemic, including making masks out of office supplies, and taking masks home ... https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/coronavirus/while-nih-failed-test-coronavirus-drugs-it-studied-drunk-monkeys-soap
NIH failed to test coronavirus drugs, studied drunk monkeys, soap operas, and tailgating instead Expert warned agency as much as 87.5 percent of biomedical research was wasteful. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/obama-admin-repeatedly-sought-millions-in-cdc-funding-cuts
Obama admin repeatedly sought millions in CDC funding cuts, despite Biden's attacks on Trump preparedness The Obama administration repeatedly sought to cut hundreds of millions of dollars in funding to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), according to its yearly budget requests -- a revelation that seemingly undercuts former Vice President Joe Biden's claims that President Trump's own budget proposals left Americans vulnerable to a pandemic. See - there is plenty of blame to go around. If you want to blame political figures, then start with the worthless career politicians like Nancy Pelosi, Mitch McConnell, Chuck Schumer, Steny Hoyer and all their friends that have been in Congress for over 30 years. What have they done to prepare us for Pandemics? What funding bills over the past 10 years have they passed in order to ensure the stock piles of PPE were maintained? What were the House and Senate oversite committees doing to ensure the Federal Agencies were keeping up with this stuff? What did these Congressional leaders do to ensure the shortages were being addressed? It's not like they didn't know about the shortages themselves since the 2009 H1N1 pandemic. Did Congress bother to do a deep dive after the H1N1 pandemic to discover lessons learned and our shortfalls in order to do something about it? The answer is NO - they did not. But it seems easier for the TDS crowd to bury their head in the sand to the inaction of all these career politicians because it doesn't feed into their false narrative that everything is one persons fault; the one guy who has only been in DC for 3 years - President Trump. Some folks need to start showing a little intellectual curiosity and critical thinking to look outside the "hate Trump orange man bad" echo chambers and their overly simplistic media narratives. If they did, they would quickly see that this whole thing is a lot more involved than just some Federal failures (i.e. Congress' past/present, Administrations past/present, multiple Federal Agencies, and regulatory red tape). They would quickly see that there were massive failures at the State levels as well. That's right, the State Governments have failed as well and could/should have been stockpiling equipment but most did not. Instead, a lot of folks seem to give the State Governments a pass for their failures and just take the easy way out and blame Big Daddy Fed for everything. The State's shouldn't get that pass - they are just as responsible for the well being and safety of the citizenry as Big Daddy Fed. So for those that want to play the blame game - at least be honest about it and see that everyone from the Hospitals to to private industry to the State Governments to the Federal Government have skin that should be ripped from their butt$. My recommendation is that we stop with the blame game because that game has never solved a problem. All it does is detract from the task at hand with butt covering and ill will instead of bringing the whole of society/government together to fight our common enemy - the virus. Once we make it through this first wave, we need to have a bi-partisan Commission (similar to the 9-11 Commission) look at everything from top to bottom (Federal level, State level, Hospitals, and private industry supply chains). Their purpose is not to place blame but to identify what changes/funding are required so we are prepared for when the next pandemic comes. Blaming one Administration and especially one person may make the anti-Trump partisans feel good, but is wildly inaccurate, intellectually bankrupt, and ignores the complexity/depth of our problems and will do nothing to fix our shortfalls.

Shame on you derp. You really think peeps want to think for themselves? Or dig for facts... Nah I want some pretty blond to sit there and tell me how to vote.
On a serious note, as a state emp and volunteer at SC EPD, we were stockpiled and ran through exercises. At one point in the 90's , we were leading edge on being prepared for disease and natural disasters. Every agency had a playbook and checklist. Sorry, pet peeve.

Not sure who would TD this post. Spot on. I could probably write a book on what we practiced in the 80's and 90's at the SC EPD. We had exercises a good bit on all kinds of scenarios. Then it became more sheik to outsource everything and the buzz was cutting Gov... I digress
Anyway, tons of blame on both sides. Most want to biatch but then never study the issues and don't vote. Media and cable news with their agendas are a big blame too.
The one thing that utterly shocks me is I honestly thought with Homeland Security, we'd be prepared for anything like this. CDC used to be excellent until they became a beliqured overrun Gov beauract.
Good material tabby.

I don't know Trump personally, so you might be right. His rhetoric often says one thing while his actions results in quite the opposite (good and bad). Inertia is very hard to overcome at rest or in motion. I prefer the in motion kind.
But right now, I think the virus will have won if you allow it to take up residence in your body. Hopefully it will be a small victory instead of the big one. The unintended results of our actions toward it are results that will last long after the virus. Would it be better for this virus to run its course like wildfire and then allow the survivors to get back to a normal civilization or make sure that it runs "slow burn" for the two years that it will take for everyone to get the vaccine that may or may not work on a possibly mutated virus. These are all hindsight questions that will unfold quickly or slowly depending on the ultimate rate of infection, total population infected and possibility of re-infection. As Ben Franklin said, "God helps those who help themselves", so with that in mind, my choice is to do my best for my family to avoid the virus. I focus on current and future scientific protections rather than political ones.

Was this before or after he stopped all flights from China. You know, when Biden and the leader of the WHO said that President Trump should not stop the flights and then called him a xenophobic racist? If it was not for a President Trump, we could have been in a lot worse shape then we are now. At least according to the Doctor that runs the CDC.

I assume you've forgotten he made several public denials about the seriousness of COVID-19 early on. Disgraceful. There is a reason he nuclear blasts the media when they simply replay his own statements.
I guess you don't understand that the only way to get Trump's cooperation is to praise him. Any criticism leads to banishment. Either kiss his ring in worship or be exiled. When it comes to addressing this crisis, health experts will say what they have to.
It's good the last few days he seems coherent enough to have accepted reality instead of lying and hoping it comes true because he says it. More of this please.

An admiral who has to lie every year about the president's physical It's very obvious that Trump weighs more than 300 pounds, but his physical always reports his weight as just under the obese threshold for his height, which is inflated by 2-3 inches every year also.

Near as I can tell-Trump is the POTUS until November.Maybe some of you can quit posting the negative stuff until we get through this thing. You will have plenty of time to ramp up the TDS and do all you can to get your guy elected.

He could still serve to January, 2021 if he loses

However, like you I also believe the same theory that he will resign in November so that Pence can pardon him. If he wins, he may be able to wait out the statute of limitations.

Yeah keep dreaming . Trump will be your president again for the next four years so get used to it. Let me guess you want a stand up American such as Hillary Clinton to be president right? Dumb ### much?

He's either resigning this November or in four years

(if he makes it that long before Pence plays the 25th). Consensus is that he cannot pardon himself and people are in prison for crimes in which he was an unindicted co-conspirator. That's a fact (well, at least Cohen is in that category).

If it comes from any part of the MSM I don't believe a word of it. I don't trust the government and I darn sure don't trust a lib/dem at the lowest level. I served 11 years in the USAF and trained for many things, biological attacks included. I also know when someone is pissing on my leg and telling me it's raining. Has Pres. Trump been totally correct in what he has done, no. No one would have been. He has adapted and improved daily and has a good group of DR's and Bio-Chemists at his side guiding him. I think he has America's best interests at heart and will do what is best for America, unlike Pelosi, Schumer, Biden, Sanders, and the idiot squad!
Me and my family will be fine, we are stocked up on food, supplies, can grow what we need, have plenty of meat in the freezer and have a small arsenal to protect what we have. Not saying we have enough to defeat army, but we could probably give a few platoons a bad day!
I hope all stay safe, be smart, use common sense. If you need medications, get 3 month refills so you have fewer trips out. Remember Aloe Vera and rubbing alcohol makes hand sanitizer, and clorox can disinfect anything!

It's very hard to have intelligent discussions when people refuse to listen to what they don't want to hear. Outlets that shield Trump from criticism won't report things like this.
When you make up your mind what you want to believe and refuse any facts to the contrary:
It's echo chamber or bust! At least I'll feel good living here.

Never once heard Nancy, Chuck, or Schiff warn that Trump is ignoring an impending pandemic. Even though they were on TV every single day during January and February. Hmmmm? But now they all seem to agree that we should have acted sooner. Are they not leaders too????

No.It’s all on Trump when things don’t go well.Said it before and will say it again.Put the hate aside for now.Be plenty of time before the election to impeach again and drag him over the coals before the election.

The WHO announced to the world on Jan 14th via Twitter that the Chinese had assured them the virus was not transmitting human to human. The WHO had already been made aware of Taiwan’s observations and concerns as early as Dec 31st. Why did the WHO buy into the Chinese answers? The US Government placed restrictions on travelers from China entering US on Jan 31st. Not as quick of a response as we needed, but we are talking about a very chaotic situation, and a lot of global politics from many of those involved.
It would have helpful if the Chinese government had been honest about what they were fighting against since November.

I guess misdirection, deception, coverup and complete falsehood about a serious matter early on is only tragic when the president is a Dem.
Got it.

It's still not as bad as the hype from the media and politicians suggest. When the new test comes out we're all going to find out that there was about 80% false positives too.
