Monday Qualifiers

May 1, 2022, 11:17 PM

On the PGA TOUR, Blake Kennedy and Turk Pettit are attempting to Monday qualify to join Jacob Bridgeman, Jonathan Byrd, Lucas Glover, Ben Martin, Bryson Nimmer, and Doc Redman at the Wells Fargo Championship. Note: I'm a little surprised that Kyle Stanley is sitting this one out, considering he won the 2017 Quicken Loans National on the course that is hosting the Wells Fargo Championship this year.

On the Korn Ferry Tour, William Nottingham and Cody Proveaux are attempting to Monday qualify to join Sam Saunders and Carson Young at the Simmons Bank Open. Note: Turk Pettit is currently the fifth alternate for the Simmons Bank Open, assuming he doesn't Monday qualify for the Wells Fargo Championship.

Also, while on the subject of qualifiers, Kyle Cottam and Zack Gordon are scheduled to be in the U.S. Open Local Qualifier in Glencoe, Alabama on Thursday. Note: Jacob Bridgeman was also scheduled for this. However, he has since received a sponsor's invite to the Wells Fargo, so I expect to see him withdraw from this U.S. Open Qualifier as it gets closer.

Looks like Cody may be in. Sits atop leaderboard at -7 along with another that's finished. Nottingham in afternoon group. Based on the morning rounds, looking like Cody is a sure bet.

Blake won't make it. 4 birdies and an eagle but had 3 bogeys and a DB. Go William.

I'm pulling for Caleb to make it too. Would be neat for Cody and Caleb to both make it being brothers...

One of you experts probably know why Caleb didn't follow his brother to Clemson. I searched to see if I could find a story but came up empty.

It looks like Cody and Caleb are both T3 after 18 and will be part of a 5 for 2 playoff.

I know. What you get becoming an old coot. Just kidding. By all accounts they're a wonderful family. They raised two fine young men.

I don't know them personally but a lady that we played golf with does. She played at ponderosa golf course quite a bit... Evidently the family Cody and Caleb did also. And that's how they met. I've played it a couple times. Enjoyed it.

Apologies, too much information. Going to be a fun filled Thursday and Friday at the very least. Thanks @Schema.

FYI. Caleb is in the field after all. He made it in as an alternate.

Quick update this morning... It looks like Turk's name has disappeared from the Wells Fargo Monday Qualifier. I'm not sure if that means he likes his chances of getting into the Simmons Bank Open as an alternate, or if he is expecting a possible sponsor's invite into one of them, or if it was just going to be too much to get to the event after playing in México yesterday.

I found the answer. He is now showing up on the field list for the Wells Fargo Championship. I'm assuming he got a sponsor's invite. Maybe Rob Bolton will have an update on his twitter feed later today.

So, that makes seven Tigers in the field and one more trying to Monday Qualify.

That is awesome !!!! Already made my week @Schema and @Skeeta56 are so good at doing that... As are our "other" golf friends.

Btw - Annabelle Pancake's mom appreciates our support of her daughter. She's hoping Annabelle is back for the regionals!!!
